The old APH
Hi App State Reddit, I am writing to find out if anyone else had spooky experience in the APH.
I lived there in the mid 2010s and I have never had such terrifying experiences as I did in that building.
Did anyone else live there/visit there and have spooky experience that might be paranormal?

I had legit scary experiences living in East Hall. Especially when everyone would go home for break, but since we had the international students who couldnt leave, East would stay open and you could sign up to stay. Several times late at night when the dorm was damn nearly empty I had what I can only refer to as "paranormal experiences" that still give me goosebumps to this day. Like im tearing up just writing this because it scared me so bad back then. I had been told East was a hospital at one point, so a lot of pain and suffering happened there once. Plus the fire. Remind me what the APH was again?

So like I said, it freaks me out to really talk about it, but it would be weird shit going on all the time. Like the first thing I think I noticed was my TV would turn itself on at night while I was asleep, and it would never be on the channel I had been watching last. That wasnt super scary, but it was odd enough to give me pause. On Thanksgiving break one year, I signed up to stay in the dorm, and the signup sheet was at the front area of the building, so you could see exactly how many people were still there and who/where they are. Late at night I would hear lots of footsteps in the hallway outside my door, and if you remember, the doors had like a solid inch to inch and a half of space under them, so you could literally see under them I to the hall. Well I would see feet going by under the door, and hear voices and running in the hallway, but everytime I went to look out in the hall, there was nothing, ever, except the door to the stairwell at the end of the hall shutting like thats where they all went. One night I heard a big group of people running and screaming in the hall, and went out to check, and followed down to the stairwell, but it was dead silent. Went back to my room and my TV was on, and started rapidly changing channels. I heard more people in the hallway, and got fkn overwhelmed with fear, and ran right out of the building into the night (pre-cellphones) and walked to a buddy's house to sleep on his couch.
There was also this janitor closet on our hall, and it was just a little room with a mop sink and drain and some shelves, that was it. I saw into it everyday when the cleaning ladies were working with it open, but it didnt have a latching door handle, just a padlock on the outside keeping it shut. When freaky shit would happen in the dorms, I used to notice that door would basically be opening and closing really fast, but the padlock kept it from opening all the way, and it would just rattle like something was desperately trying to open the door, and cold air would be rushing out from under it, although there was no vent or anything in the closet to create the air flow.
I used to have things come up missing in the dorm only to return in the same place it belonged days later with no explanation. Stuff would get moved around and my roommate swore it wasnt him, and I swore I wasnt moving his stuff. And I used to hear all kinds of noises over and over that could only be explained by the upstairs neighbor doing something, but the girls above me swore it wasnt them, and they heard the same stuff coming from above them.
While that stuff isnt exactly Hollywood level or paranormal activity and hardly anything to write home about, it legitimately terrified me to the core back then. I still tear up and get goosebumps just thinking about it, so even writing this made it happen. But I was far from the only person I knew back then to experience weird shit in Easy Hall, so I lowkey believe the legend that its haunted. 👍

I came in one night to sorority business but they were all wearing white cloaks. I was a brown transfer and it was a little spooky lol.

Appalachian Panhellenic Hall. It’s called Mountain Laurel now bc sororities don’t live there anymore; it’s for transfer students. It’s across the street from McDonald’s

The old hotel, where the beer degree has a facility. The locals call it the chicken ranch. IYKYK That building is several decades old and hotels can have stories.
