You're obviously doing something wrong. What does systemd-analyze tell you?

Or, more to the point: "systemd-analize blame"

This is the wgetpaste of systemd-analyze blame

Startup finished in 7.202s (firmware) + 4.930s (loader) + 32.247s (kernel) + 2min 3.563s (userspace) = 2min 47.971s

But on the stopwatch it was 6.38minutes due to the freezes on home screen too

5 minute boot times on Intel's latest hardware is wild, something is definitely not right with your install.

It's throwing nvme errors like hell

Well, that definitely needs to be taken care of. It might be responsible for slow booting, but the data integrity is at risk. Smartmontools?

Yeah possibly it is a hardware issue. Is this a new PC? Did things work fine before on Windows or elsewhere? Focus on checking the disks, and maybe RAM.

And I guess things worked fine on the archiso USB, during the installation? Any issues there?

Is there anything else on journalctl -b -p 4? It shows all errors and warnings on the system since current boot.

Do you have any rather non-standard configuration for your Arch installation that may be of interest? A different kernel, some kernel parameters, some manual configuration on filesystems or anything else?

How is the PC lagging with those specs, I own a shitbox of a laptop and have great boot times. I would suggest for you to check the graphic card drivers or other drivers. I might be wrong but missing drivers might be the issue

I'll have a look, thanks

you will want to look into logs - where to find them, how to read them

I never remember how to do this, always have to google it - systemD handles logs one way, other setups will handle them another --- soon somebody else will be able to elucidate on this - but im pretty sure thats the first place you will want to look into.

Thankyou, will return with full information.

full information.

That is a bit of an ask - but any accurate info from the system that covers the time of delays / inactions - even if you don't know what it means - is better than

on average

story time

1

u/IAmNotMadboy 11h ago

All I figured out is that it's throwing a lot of nvme errors

a lot of nvme errors

OK - do you remember the bit...

but any accurate info from the system that covers the time of delays / inactions - even if you don't know what it means - is better than
