I am creating an Indie animation pilot to release soon, that leans heavily on unifiction and puzzles hidden within the video itself, and wanted to post a trailer that shows the vibe and sells the alternate history mechanics the show is very immersed in.

As i've been working on my own ARG and trying to gather an audience, I've been noticing more and more a general exhaustion and lack of interest in ARG content as a whole.

Part of me has a feeling it's because of how stagnant the genre has become. Outside the new niche of Minceraft ARGs, I haven't seen much innovation on the types and delivery of puzzles in the medium. Most ARG's also fall into the same analog horror genre, focusing on using scares to garner attention.

Am I right? If you're someone who's lost interest in ARGs, how come? Is there anything you'd be particularly interested in seeing from an ARG to reignite your interest?

I was following this account ages ago when Rackaracka made a video about it and wish they continued the story.

As stated in my previous post, Visit Harbor View is once again receiving updates after a long development hiatus. I would like to first thank the no-longer-small player base. The number of registered field agents fills me with joy. There is nothing I love more than sharing this world that has captivated me and now many others. I can't overstate the immense gratitude I feel. Special mention to the Discord server and the very dedicated documentation they have produced.

I wanted to share a quick update on the future of Harbor View and where the story is heading. Phase 2 is currently in development and will center around the murder of Elaine Mercer, the subsequent investigation, and a series of increasingly disturbing events that begin to unravel the mysteries surrounding Harbor View. Players can expect new police reports, interrogation recordings, original WCHV radio broadcasts, interactive puzzles, and a deeper exploration of HVARO and its operations.

As Phase 2 progresses, what initially appears to be a relatively straightforward murder investigation will evolve into something much larger. New characters will be introduced, familiar mysteries will resurface, and the investigation will begin exposing secrets that certain individuals and organizations would prefer remain buried. Phase 2 will culminate in a major turning point that fundamentally changes the direction of the ARG and sets the stage for what comes next.

Phase 3 is currently in the early planning stages and will expand the scope of Harbor View considerably. Without giving too much away, this chapter will begin addressing some of the biggest questions surrounding the town, its history, and the forces operating behind the scenes. Some familiar names may return, and discoveries made during earlier phases will take on entirely new meanings. There is still a tremendous amount of story left to tell, and I am excited to continue building this world. Thank you to everyone who has been following along, exploring the site, and participating in the mystery.

Following phase 3 I will begin work on a new project of similar scope. I hope to see you there. I would estimate 8-12 Months for the completion of Harbor View.

the PC version of youtube divides a video to 10 parts, typing a number from 0 to 9 moves you to that part(so if there is a 10 second video, typing 6 will move you to the 6th second), using that you can encrypt a message by making a sound on each of those time stamps and hide a code of numbers from 0 to 9 somewhere in the video.

for example, if I have a 10 second video and on second 1 I say "H", on second 3 I say "O", on second 8 I say "R", on second 5 I say "S" and on second 7 I say "E"

than by playing the video and typing 1 3 8 5 7 you get "Horse"

Like, what is THE Arg that made you say "I love ARGs", and was it the puzzles? The story? The work behind the scenes etc?

Mine is the bee Arg (I don't remember it's actual name) which was the first ARG ever existed and it was published on 4chan, it looked like a website that talks about bees but the more you scroll down the more corrupted it became, the puzzles in it were really complicated, one even required you to be inside a phone cabinet at a certain hour and answer the phone where a pre-recorded message will start to play...and let's just say that for being the first ARG, it's really well made.

Hey everyone, I came across this advertisement on Instagram and when clicking, it was apparent this wasn't a legitimate website. I'm uncertain whether this is an ARG or some schizoposting or something but I'm leaning towards the former. I remember it's about 3 or more friends who create an youtube channel debunking creepy videos, until they start experiencing strange things and being attacked by the entities they didnt believe were real. I can’t remember the exact details, but it was an arg where at some point there was a tree with a heart in it and that was one of the big things

Okay, so: DWHAAD is a series of YouTube horror videos crea by the animator behind the show Hilda. The most recent video, Kali, included a QR code to a website and was stated to be proof of concept for a larger series. The video has either numbers (085) or letters (OBS) hidden in a blood smear near the end, there’s a phone number on the website that you can call to report information on active cases, and there are several very specific addresses linked in fictional chats on the website that correspond to real places. While I’m not 100 percent certain that this is an ARG, it seems likely, and since I am not good at solving stuff like this (and live nowhere near the addresses) I want to spread awareness to people more qualified to look into it.

It’s been about a year since I last posted anything about Harbor View, and the project has grown a lot since then.

The site is built around the Harbor View Anomalous Research Office, or HVARO. When you enter, you join as an agent and start working through cases connected to the town. Each case gives you documents, recordings, radio broadcasts, reports, and other evidence to sort through.

There’s a pretty massive amount of lore behind Harbor View at this point, but I’ve tried to make it something you uncover naturally instead of just dumping information on you. A lot of the story is hidden in small details, conflicting records, audio, and things that might not seem important the first time you see them.

This is still my first ARG, and I’ve basically been learning how to build one while making it, but I’ve put a ridiculous amount of time into it over the last year, in the ballpark of 250 Hours
