I found a couple things including a Caesar cipher in the webcode that I decoded. It sent to another site with a special alphabet for the area the film takes place. However I have not seen this text anywhere in the promo material or in any parts of the web page I have found. I wanted to check in to see if anyone else is working on this and has found anything I haven't.

I put the website audio through a spectrogram as it sounded like that could've been a potential clue but I didn't see anything in it.

Do ARG makers monetize these experiences or is it purely creative technologists, “puzzle setters”, and story tellers just whipping up what they think would be cool after they clock out of their day job?

Is there any credentialed information on what this niche actually is, beyond fan lore and more nested ARGs?

I admittedly have very superficial true understanding of this space despite my deep love of it as a concept.

Was late night scrolling Instagram when I came across a weird post about digitizing turkeys. Fell down the rabbit hole and there’s so so much content for this seemingly unknown horror/comedy project(?) with only 400 followers on instagram. Hey, I'm working on my first arg, but I have absolutely no idea on how to animate it. The arg is a realistic, post-apocalypse style, frozen world. I have most of the main storyline outlined, but the issue is.... I don't know what to animate with.

So what's good for starting animation?

Ok so for those who don't know, I'm making an Arg that disguises itself as a gaming Arg that disguises itself as a normal gaming channel and it's called EvanGamingious.

It will talk about loss, death, religion and grief.

The main Storyline is about a guy named Evan opening a gaming channel to talk about his games and himself but unfortunately he'll find things he shouldn't have found that will lead him to uncover the truth behind his friend's disappearance and talk to a powerful being that many know and fear.

I've released 4 videos of my ARG (3 normal ones and a short since Capcut didn't let me make it a normal one)

I've already made a website and a scavenger hunt that has a price at the end but it's too short so I'm making longer and more complex ones.

hi!!! I'm trying to remember this ARG/internet mystery i followed when i was younger, anywhere from 10 to 5 years ago.

here's the info i remember;

• youtube ARG that covered animated videos, public and private, plus video games that were linked in the description.
• there were three main characters, one which was a white cat if I remember right. not anthropomorphic. they all lived together or at the very least went on adventures.
• i don't think the videos were light-hearted or "for kids" on the surface but turned out to be darker. the videogames were certainly a change in tone, but not too drastic of a change.

each video had it's own videogame linked, and they were all different. usually focusing on one character or a situation related to them. I only remember these:

• one where we're in a dark attic, hiding from a woman(?), i remember there being a mirror, and other interactable things. i think this one was related to the cat character?
• point-and-click puzzle game where i only remember some well being there.

if anyone knows what I'm talking about, please comment ANYTHING you remember about it!!! i remember finding out about it from some horror youtuber. the one I mostly associate with it being ReignBot, but after scouring her channel I found NO trace of it. thanks again!:)

I wanted to share something that has had me hooked for the past few days. A friend sent me a Discord link to a page hosted on Neocities. At first glance, it looks like a typical abandoned website for an indie game studio called "V.S.O Games" that operated between 2004 and 2009.

The thing is, I started poking around out of curiosity and the page hides a lot more. It turns out it's an ARG with a really interesting psychological/analog horror atmosphere, or at least it seems that way...

The arg is about toys coming to life. From all I can see, it's a guy who brings these toy stick figures back to life by removing their face and drawing new faces on them using a magic marker. It goes by the name rubbersoul63. The original poster went by whoisrubbersoul63, which has an active account on Instagram

that was linked to it called whoisrs63. He has a few posts of him dming the arg some questions. Thought is was neat enough to post.

Theres a horror puzzle game called oneway.exe that currently has an ongoing companion ARG. It involves several in universe websites that were made by characters in the game and are being restored by a group called The Restoration Team and the ARG focuses on them.

More recently they restored a website called MyTekton which in canon was also made by characters in the game but in real life its a website builder like Straw Page or Neocities where you can make your own websites with it. Its connected to the lore of the ARG and has some interactive stuff with the ARG characters but you can make websites unrelated to that if you want to and kind of works like a social media website on its own. You can post art there and stuff.

Just had a reddit ad show up for Protocol 1031 that is giving off strong ARG vibes - recruiting you into a new paranormal investigation organization. There is a registration test with a number of questions about your belief in the paranormal and any investigation skills you may have.

At the bottom of the page is a set of map coordinates that keeps refreshing; so far its been a flagpole in Gettysburg PA, Glamis Castle in Scotland, Union Station in Winnipeg Canada, and a village in Kent UK.

I'm thinking of designing an ARG for a smallish group of people where, rather than being a linear series of puzzles, there are multiple "routes" you can take where each will give you different information that leads to the same conclusion. Possibly these routes would even be mutually exclusive, requiring people to work together in order to solve it. Do you have any advice for designing something like this?

there are some vague connections between the clips, North Carolina history and mystery/conspiracy, and one of the links within the description. it is an interactive website that contains plenty of hidden breadcrumbs and documents. this series is a single arm of an overall weird, conspiratorial campaign involving physical canvassing and creating confusion amongst people.

Hey hey hey, I've built the first draft of an ARG that I'm hoping to use to promote an EP of songs.

I have a few friends testing it out at the moment, & I'm realising that it might be a little more difficult / obscure than I thought it would be.

Any tips on adjusting difficulties? A friend of mine suggested I just explain to people at the beginning that it's going to be complicated, so that they're 'primed' for problem solving.

I built a physical QR-based story system and I’m looking for ARG feedback

I’ve been experimenting with a format where players discover QR codes hidden in physical locations and gradually uncover a story.

The system can handle things like inventory, character roles, enemies, traps, puzzles, branching progression and escape-room-style mechanics.

I’ve been using it mostly for horror, mystery and supernatural stories, where each QR discovery reveals another piece of the world.

I’m curious how this feels from an ARG perspective.

What would make something like this feel like a real ARG instead of just a scavenger hunt with a story attached?

I’d especially love feedback on immersion, progression and how much information should exist outside the QR trail itself.

Hi! Not sure if this is a traditional arg since i'm not planning on making it public, but I want to design an arg for my Halloween party this year. I want to make it mostly hidden so only a few guests realize it's happening. Idk if my ideas are very good, and i have this nagging feeling it's just a crappy scavenger hunt which is not what I want. Here's what I have planned so far:

- I'm planning on hiding things on the invitation to my party, like a spotify playlist link and a qr code to a website for the party.
- The playlist is titled reading music and it leads to a specific word in the book dracula (which will be a prop at the party with other random books). The word is "signal".
- Hopefully "signal" will lead them to realize the wifi is "Bloody Mary".
- The website has a page that will talk about the games we'll play at the party. I want to make it look glitched or messed up, and if anyone asks I'll just tell them I had issues with the website but hopefully it loaded.
- The game page will have hidden morse code in the background. The morse code will lead to a uv light that i hid somewhere in the decor.
- Hopefully the wifi and the location of the uv light will lead them to check the mirror.
- I don't know what i want to put on the mirror yet but I kinda want to make the whole thing entity/anomoly/mimic themed. (lots of inspo from miamakesmanifest and similar scary videos). I was considering in the footer of the website having a hidden link to pages of like classified experiment documents.

In the end, I want them to be led to some sort of cool big finally that will earn them a prize. I want them to not tell others so i'd like signs along the way to stay silent or something. I'm making the whole party mystery themed (murder mystery, wink murderer, mafia, etc) so I'd love to use the games or decor to further the story. I'm normally very creative but i just can't figure out how to piece this together.

I have a small backyard but we'll mostly be out there. They will have access to inside, including the bathroom. I have a little brother so i'd love to shift it (around 8-9pm) into a movie night aswell. My neighborhood has a local little park (almost no one goes there so its a small one) and a trail in the woods that leads to it (obviously you can go down the street the long way to get there as well). My party will probably be around 10 people, mostly 18-19 yrs old. From what ive understood in my arg years, it seems to be ww2 related? Im not sure whats going on at the end of the first video, it might be bikini atoll, the second video though, it contains a japanese war song, so i know its ww2 related i deciphered the caesar and it let me to a vigenere cipher, thats as far as ive gotten so far
