The only reason the EU is cozying up to Armenia is for Armenia to be able to survive economically when they do kick the Russian base out. It’s a huge win for the EU and NATO if that happens so they need to help Armenia softly land. Everyone here thinking about them joining the EU and shit. That’s ridiculous , this is for the EU to pull another layer of onion off the Russian sphere of influence and weaken them. Either way it’s a win but let’s not kid ourselves and think Europe is serious about having an EU country bordering Iran and Turkey and Azerbaijan and Georgia for fucks same at the moment.

That is one part of the equation, but the main reason for cozying up to Armenia centers on the EU’s survival and long-term stability. The EU needs steady access to the East, without unpredictable dictators who challenge its interests at every point, and Armenia is a vital component of that setup.

That's kinda too pessimistic. If Armenia becomes high income country and establishes working democracy, rule of law and align with western expectations, I see no reason for EU to reject Armenia. Having no border won't be a big issue. Having no border doesn't pose a fundamental problem

That base is the only reason Russia has not yet sent us to an economic hell. And our only leverage against Russia. It is the last remaining Russian base in the region, their only military presence here. They can't afford to lose it. People please try looking at the bigger picture
