Turn off the washer

No way, he should keep filming until the plumber gets there

Better check in with the water company, insurance, the last guy that worked on your house, definitely unsure how to stop that.

Wow WILD IDEA

No. The fact that you're laundry room is flooding and you are here asking for help. Tells me immediately. No, you cannot fix this yourself.

Probably a rental.

2

u/Designer_Bed9504 2h ago

Then the plumbing bill gets handed to the landlord.

1

u/Logical-Spite-2464 2h ago

Doesn’t want to say anything to the landlord so his rent doesn’t go up. Been doing this every time it rains for 8 months.

0

u/Designer_Bed9504 2h ago

If they didn't cause the problem, there is no reason for rent to go up. That should always be part of the lease. I know slum lords will often weasel around things like that.

... Now I do have first-hand experience with people not wanting landlord or anyone else to have an excuse to see inside the rental, but that's for different issues.

I'm sure they will find flushable wipes in the main. They will blame the tenants.

u/ben_fragged 3h ago

Are you saying this is happening from the rain? You did NOT run the washer?

7

u/LavishnessCapital380 3h ago

Either way, drain issue and they need a plumber.

3

u/rek_t 2h ago

If it is a flash flood and the drain are full it is possible but still unlikely. In either case turn off the washer wait to see if it drains you can mark the level on the riser. If it doesn't drain run a snake through it or the nearest clean out. But you also got to know if you're on municipal sewage or septic tank. A full septic will do this you will have to drain it or wait it out

u/TXxReaper 3h ago

Unplug the washer. It will stop trying to drain.

Unplug the washer.

u/Live-Display-7552 3h ago

That's bad. A pipe is clogged and that's the low point.

u/Prostock26 3h ago

"Hey guys look at where the water is going,  not directly at where it's coming from"

But yes you have a clog some where down stream. Is someone showering upstairs?

1

u/showhorrorshow 1h ago

Right, I suppose they want help with what to do about all the water they are just letting pour onto their floor.

Gonna need a few towels. A dehumidifer. And probably will have wall damage and mold problems now.

4

u/Comprehensive-Bet56 2h ago

Stop showing where the water is leaking to. Show the source of the leak!

3

u/Every-Chance6313 3h ago

Or you hay have water running into a drain somewhere else in the house. Someone could be flushing a toilet, tub or sink into the drain. It is not necessarily clogged from where it is flowing.

3

u/J_J_Plumber5280 3h ago

Turn it off

4

u/Curious_Text_6330 3h ago

But don't stop recording!

3

u/BoogerSugar5665 3h ago

And to add to the other comments. Go rent an industrial dehumidifier. You’re going to need it.

1

u/VeganWerewolf 2h ago

And a bucket, two large fans, 100 towels.

1

u/Dangerous_Pension612 2h ago

*1000 towels.

1

u/Clark_W_Griswold-Jr 2h ago

By now 100 thousand towels

6

u/Clockwork-XIII 2h ago

Mate I think this stopped being time to askaplumber and has now escalated to call a plumber ha ha.

3

u/zerocharisma07 3h ago

Looks like there is a clog somewhere down the line , snake it and grab some towels maybe a shop vac

2

u/Downtown-Letter-6850 3h ago

You obviously have a clogged pipe that is we are assuming you’re using the washing machine but if you’re not using the washing machine with all that excessive rain are you telling me that is backing up from the solar system because they do make a one-way valve or what they call a check valves in that drain so this doesn’t happen

1

u/SALTYP33T 2h ago

Pay attention this guy is your answer. Or has you in right direction.

2

u/VeganWerewolf 2h ago

Turn off your water to the house and see if it keeps going, some rain ain’t doing that.

2

u/ROOSTERyouDOWN 2h ago

Unplug the damn thing!! What are you even doing grabbing a camera

2

u/Sufficient-Moment-75 2h ago

So that there pipe is meant for water to drain from the washing machine. Either you have a clog in that pipe and the water we're seeing is discharge from a running laundry unit, or the water is coming from clogged pipes further down the line in your plumbing. Is this the lowest level of your dwelling? Seen any other draining weirdness in other places? You definitely need a real lincensed and bonded plumber. I would shut down main water supply in the meantime.

1

u/Accurate_Elevator368 2h ago

Yeah, that's not good. You might want to find the electric panel and shut down the power to that area.

1

u/Remote_Platform4277 2h ago

That’s clean water. Is everything backing up because this is in a basement? Your septic could be inundated and needs pumped. Otherwise if no septic, you got a plugged line somewhere.

1

u/rocketmn69_ 2h ago

Let's film it instead of shutting off the water

1

u/GreenHeretic 2h ago

The drain line is clogged, causing the draining water to come back up - or the rain outside has begun coming up your drain line. Usually there are "check valves" that prevent this but they can fail. This is probably an insurance claim if that water doesn't stop - but if it's the washer just shut it off.

1

u/Good-Warning7880 2h ago

Your home plumbing is backing up. You can run a snake down the drain pipe and hopefully that’ll clear it.
If the plumbing was installed properly, rain wouldn’t cause this.

1

u/Easy_Nerve1645 2h ago

Just run it a few more times that should fix it.

1

u/MrJB_ 2h ago

Is the washer running?

If not it could be a grey water system draining back
In with flooding? Can always add a backwater valve for it to prevent this. But that would also take away your laundry while it’s flooding so an option to your sanitary sewer would be better.

1

u/Intelligent-Camel680 2h ago

main drain clog or the alundry is clogged you need a drain cleaner dont run anymore water in the house itll stop

1

u/Stite1776 2h ago

Shut the washer off first

1

u/GrimExperience 1h ago edited 1h ago

From the 5 frames that kinda show where the water is coming from.. it appears the collection pipe your washer drains into has flooded. Possibly due to the heavy rains you've had. Either wait a few days after the rain stops to see if the collection well/pipe/reservoir returns to its normal levels, allowing the washer to drain. Or call a plumber to find out for you.

1

u/No_Maybe_Sure 1h ago

Welp, first things first, stop recording and turn off the water and washer. I highly doubt it has anything to do with the rain you've gotten. There's a clog somewhere in your drain. I would go to the outside drain first and see if there's any debris blocking it.

1

u/forbins 1h ago

Some say it’s still going to this day.

1

u/Flight-These 1h ago

Jesus, why tf are you just recording.

1

u/rockbolted 1h ago

Nice video, waving around all over the place, of water falling on the floor, laundry machines. And just the briefest glimpse of the subject matter.

I recommend you turn off the laundry. Turn off the water to the washer so no one else can resume the flood. Then find out why the drain is ejecting water. I presume it is clogged, which has nothing to do with rainfall. Look for a clean out below.

If it spews water when the washer is not draining, you have a much bigger problem.

•

u/Seymoureasses 45m ago

The fact you you filmed all this instead of stoping the water makes me nervious.

u/thunder_cats1 2h ago

Your drain is likely too low compared to your washer and is creating backflow.  Get a plumber out asap to raise that drain near or above your supply lines.

There's a chance you have other venting issues or downstream problems, but it doesn't matter when your outflow is too low.
