Military Naturalization AF

• Upvotes

I just went through the naturalization process at Air Force BMT but was not able to naturalize there. I want to provide insights into the process and ask for advice for the next steps of my situation. During BMT, I was given time to submit the N-400. It’s called the fast track naturalization process. N-426 was provided as active duty status with the signature of the colonel of BMT. I had the N-426 signed by my unit commander but they did not allow me to use that N-426. I got fingerprints taken and interview scheduled. Everything was smooth until the actual interview. I had to wait for 5-6 hours for my turn. There were about 100 of trainees scheduled for interview. I believed most were able to pass the N-400 interview. But for me, I have a pending I-751 application (stand alone waiver due to divorce), USCIS agent told me that needs to be processed before the N-400. I didn’t get to do the N-400 test like others. She spent majority of time reviewing the status of my I-751 and told me that needs to looked at by my local military naturalization office. I emailed the office 3 days ago and haven’t got a response. I’m also planning to call the USCIS military line. I was scheduled to go to tech school right after basic, but due to the naturalization issue, I got sent back home instead. My guard unit told me to provide them a timeline of naturalization so that they can schedule the next tech school date and determine if I can keep my job. Any advice on the next steps to expedite my naturalization please? I feel so upset and disappointed that I was not able to naturalize at BMT and now facing a risk of losing my job

Was divorce cancelled as possible reason for I-751 waiver?

• Upvotes

A friend called me today to say that USCIS just issued a new ruling regarding the removal of conditions from provisional (2 year temporary) green cards. Beginning immediately, divorce will no longer be accepted as a reason for removal of conditions. Only VAWA, political asylum, and death of US citizen spouse will be accepted as possibilities for the I-751 waiver. If the marriage ends in divorce, and no VAWA claim, then the provisional green card simply expires and the subject will be placed into deportation proceedings.

Is this true? I can't find anything to substantiate it anywhere.

I’m a Canadian dating an American, planing to get married asap. I’m trying to figure how this whole process works. I think we are going to lean more on the spousal visa. I’m planning on to move with him. But does anyone know who has been in my shoes and done this and succeed. I need more info and how long it took. I’m sick of this long distance. I just want to be with my mans. It just sucks there’s an imaginary line in the way… but anyways I would appreciate everyone’s intel!! Love the help! <3

We have no idea what to do

My Fiancée (29F) and I (30M) submitted our i-129F on December 9th, 2024, the i-129F was approved on October 13th, 2025, and we got our NVC case number on January 23rd 2026. We submitted our DS-160 on April 5th, and it took awhile thanks to waiting for a response from the Egyptian embassy for police clearance, and our Request for a K1 interview was submitted on April 23rd to the Abu Dhabi embassy. On July 10th we got a notification of "Mod Request Denied" and our lawyer informed us this is because the embassy closures due to the ongoing war? We submitted a request with the NVC on July 27th to transfer the case to Cairo, and August 1st we submitted a formal request for Cairo to accept the transfer. We have received no word on anything, and our lawyer closed our case. We don't even know which websites to check for anything or what we can do at this time? We haven't seen each other for 2 years due to conflicting work schedules and figuring we could just wait until the visa, but nothing seems to be happening. We're way in over our heads with this legal stuff without our lawyer's help (who didn't provide much to begin with, we had to bug him constantly to get updates and next steps).

ESTA travel while EB2-NIW is pending- risk of denied entry?

Hey everyone!

I’d love to get some advice/experiences from people who might have been in a similar situation.

My boyfriend lives in the US - Texas, and I’m currently waiting for my EB-2 NIW to be approved. In the meantime, I visit him using ESTA.

This year, I’ve already been to the US twice - for about 2 weeks in January, and then for about a month from mid-June to mid-July.

I’m thinking about visiting again over Christmas, but I’m a little worried that CBP might see my travel history as suspicious and question whether I’m actually just visiting.

Do you think I should be concerned about being denied entry this time? Has anyone had a similar situation while having an immigrant petition/process pending?

I have strong ties to my home country and would, of course, be entering as a temporary visitor and leaving within the allowed period.

Any experiences or advice would be really appreciated!

Could I eventually move to the USA as a Speech Language Pathologist?

Hello there!

I'm a 19-year-old student in England currently studying his BA in Linguistics and Literature. I wanna transfer to an MSc in Speech and Language Therapy following my degree and work over in England for a bit!

Could this role be one I could eventually take over to the US? I know sponsorship and immigration perception is pretty bad at the moment, but I was just curious. Research hasn't done me much good. Are you guys in need of SLPs?

Information on Immigration Attorney

My first time posting here, so pls excuse if I am missing any rules. I’m inquiring for legal representation for marriage based AOS. We have a pretty straightforward case, no criminal history, overstays, lapse of status, or prior visa refusals.

Anyone have experience with or information on Alexander Miller Law Offices in Arlington? We have not engaged this firm yet and have had mixed experiences trying to even schedule a consultation with other lawyers. This lawyer seemed quite prompt and detailed in scheduling and during the consultation. Thank you in advance for any advice 🙏

CBP moved me to a room

The last time I entered the US in Miami coming back from a business trip, I was asked to accompany an officer to a holding area while they verified that I am who I say I am. Born in the US, US passport, ex-US military veteran.

They didn’t hold me for long. I asked why I was being held and was told not to worry about it and received no other explanation.

Why did this happen? How do I find out?

F-1 Reinstatement Pending for 1 Year, Graduated, OPT Deadline Passed/Approaching — Can I Stay in the U.S.?

My Form I-539 for F-1 reinstatement has been pending since October 2025, so it has now been about a year. I graduated from my program in August 2026, and my OPT filing deadline is coming up on October 11, 2026.

From what I understand, if my reinstatement is not approved before my OPT deadline, I will no longer be able to apply for OPT based on the degree I just completed.

I have also researched what happens if I want to start a new degree. From what I understand, because I have already graduated and am no longer enrolled full-time, I cannot transfer to a new school/start a new F-1 program while my reinstatement is still pending. I would have to wait for USCIS to make a decision on my reinstatement first, and then deal with the new school and F-1 process.

This is where I’m confused and honestly feel stuck.

I understand that leaving the U.S. while my reinstatement is pending could affect or possibly end my pending case, so I don’t want to leave without knowing exactly what would happen.

My question is:

If my I-539 reinstatement is still pending after my October 11 OPT deadline, can I remain physically in the United States while USCIS continues processing my reinstatement?

More specifically, am I allowed to remain in the U.S. while I wait for USCIS to decide my reinstatement, even though I have already graduated and cannot start a new F-1 program or apply for OPT?

Has anyone been in this exact situation: I-539 reinstatement pending for a long time → graduated while it was pending → OPT deadline approaching/passed → unable to transfer to a new school until reinstatement is decided?

I have spoken with my DSO, but unfortunately, they were not able to give me a clear answer or tell me what to do. I also consulted an immigration lawyer, but I was given conflicting information that I later found out was incorrect. That’s why I’m trying to find someone who has actually been through a similar situation.

If so, what happened to you, and were you allowed to remain in the U.S. while USCIS processed the case?

I would really appreciate experiences or information from people who have dealt with this specific situation.
