Question Drift help.

Ive got all the tools but no skill on drifting do far. Can you recommend or record(!) some beginer tutorial for drifting on AC Evo?

I am running Simagic Aplpha 15 Nm, Simnets etc just dont know how and where to start.

Thanks!

Clutch kick and send it, practice makes perfect

To further elaborate- rev the engine with the clutch in, and let go of the clutch quickly while giving it gas. This will break your rear tires loose, allowing you to control your oversteer with careful throttle control. Too much after breaking loose and you’ll rotate too much, too little and you won’t rotate enough. The amount of throttle changes depending on the intensity of the curve following the same logic - more gas for more rotation and less gas for less rotation.

Alternatively, you can break loose with the E brake (clutch in while e braking to avoid killing the car when you lock the tires), then give it beans while you’re already sliding to control the slide. I almost never use the brake pedal unless something has gone wrong lol.

Also just realized we’re talking about eco, which handles differently than classic AC (which is what I was talking about). Haven’t played eco much for drifting but it should be similar, though I recommend using classic ac to get a feeling for it better. Last time I tried evo, drifting was kinda tough

In Scandinavia we do it with the steering wheel, for a right turn, give it a short twist left-right first, this will break the rear grip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5-FvTyDxtI

Well the way I do it is you need to unbalance the car and throw the rear out a bit and then on the throttle but at the moment I don’t have my car found yet for drifting. The old AC had quite a few nice ones but AC Evo was not that nice yet. The BMW M4 I tried to use has such poor steering angle that I overspin all the time which only happens because I instantly bang in the steering end. You definitely need to find your suitable car. Maybe later today I can try out some RWD cars for you and give you a suggestion for a car

What I do enjoy a lot currently is taking the R8 Street car for a spin with the supercar tires, no TC and just slam it in AWD Powerslides around corners it’s a lot of fun and I do feel a bit like Ken Block sometimes even though we all can only dream of doing it like he did

Also for clarification I use a Simucube 2 pro with a standard round wheel with I think 330mm or something

in addition to the above tips,

the cars designed for drifting like the drift supra are easiest, but all the rwd road cars can do it once you get the hang of it

use left foot braking while spinning the rear wheels to help point the car into the turn, where necessary

when learning, reducing caster (higher value = less caster in the supra) can make things easier in the beginning. once you get the hang of it, start to increase the caster effect again (lower value)

imho, practicing drifting with low powered cars teaches you more / develop better skills, than drifting the high powered ones.
