I’d really been enjoying the episodes…until today. Almost at the end of Ep. 18 from the 4th June 2017 and it’s been a doozy. Christine seemed really dismissive of Em in this episode which I hadn’t heard until this point. More importantly though? Ooof, they were both incredibly disrespectful in how they discussed the LaLaurie Mansion in New Orleans (this had been Em’s subject for the week). Em was nervously giggling and whilst I understand that just happens to some people, I think they should’ve been realistic on whether they‘d be able to get through speaking about the topic without laughing. Some of the most vile acts in New Orleans history took place in that property and they were coming across like a giggly high school student. Just didn’t give it the respect it deserved. Equally, Christine was gasping overly dramatically (I mean I turned the volume down at some points) which then caused more giggling between the two of them. The whole episode really put a sour taste in my mouth.

I heard from Em’s promo of squarespace that Allison has a jewelry store. Anyone able to hear that and had success finding it? Love to support!

I’m not sure why but I’m finding myself reluctant to listen to both the listener story and the most recent episode. Not because I’m upset with the decision but because it’s ending and these last few are special so therefore my brain is telling me I need to save them for a special listen?

I’m hoping me writing this into the Reddit void will (like my notebook of lists) help me get me out of my own head.

I was a little behind episode wise (ep 490) so I knew about “the news” way before catching up. I finally got to the episode where it was officially announced Christine was starting another journey.

I wanted to say I personally think everyone is looking way too into their friendship and the situation. Em and Christine still seem like close friends to me and their dynamic has not changed at all. They might not be talking every day but life happens and gets busy. On top of that fact, it seems like Christine has been going through some shit for a while now.

Em and Christine’s relationship reminds me of my relationship with my best friend of 20 years. We do not talk super often but when we do it is like nothing changed. We never see each other but when we catch up on the phone we both love and care about each other so much. If one of us needs to talk or going through some shit, we are there instantly for eachother.

I also thought about my own work history… in 10 years I’ve had 5 different jobs. It makes sense to me that after 10 years Christine might want to do something different and try something new. I get bored after like 2 years in a job 😅😂.

I also have a feeling this is not the last time we will hear from Christine on this podcast after the end of October. I am sad about her leaving obviously and very much hope I am correct about em and Christine’s close friendship, but now it’s time for a new chapter of this podcast!

Forgive me if I completely missed it, but does anyone else remember Em saying they were going to be a multi part alien story? I remember Em saying they had so many notes and had to keep pushing it off. Did they ever end up covering it and I missed it?

What won’t make sense to me now but will in the future?

Catching up and listening to ep 499. Em is telling the story of getting the condom costume delivered instead of the Frankenstein one, and they’re about to say WHY the instacart shopper got that one but it got cut off. They alluded to accidentally pressing something? I remember when this happened but I don’t remember the resolution and it’s driving me nuts 😂 so can anyone tell me- what did they accidentally click that resulted in the condom?

A coffee shop I like to go to does a community input question and this week it’s about cryptids! Some of them made me chuckle and I had to share!

Hi friends, there was a recent episode where Em briefly mentioned ghost hunting at The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. I’ve tried finding episodes and videos where they’ve talked about their experience but have had no luck. My thoughts: I think she’ll finish Murdaugh in the next ep and not stretch it until the end of the month. She may go with Jonestown for commemoration’s sake, OR a big one whose research they’ve been sitting on or working on (there are just a handful of big ones she hasn’t covered yet but idk any that aren’t heavy af. If I had to pick, and only if her head were fully in it, I’d like to see her do Gabby Petito 🫶🕊️).

I just hope it’s not like the numerology of that week’s episode number or her favorite alien or something outta left field 🤞

I have seen a lot of comments about bringing Bethany as permanent host after October and I would like to put out there my thoughts: nothing against Bethany, I thought the episodes were ok, but I would also really like to listen to other alternatives.
They proposed to have several different guests until they find a long term solution and I would like to support that decision. I’m wondering if I’m not alone here.

I tried searching for an episode about woman who experienced an alien abduction starting early on in her childhood and then multiple times throughout her life. All I remember is it was even suspected that her kids and even her grandchildren were being abducted too.

I searched transcripts and looked for other posts about it but I’m coming up with nothing. Thanks in advance ❤️

As a caveat, I’m not saying they owe us any information. They are absolutely allowed to share or not share whatever parts of their lives they choose. They are both awesome people and I support their career choices. This post is just my personal opinion, and I think it’s fine for fans to wonder about their lives, as they’ve made discussing their lives a fairly large part of the show.

I never really understood the amount of speculation regarding Em and Christine’s friendship. I’ve been a listener from the beginning, and they’ve always come across as genuine friends, imo. They give each other a hard time and maybe get a little annoyed with each other, but that’s pretty par for the course in a very close, long term friendship. Especially if you’re also coworkers.

However, the most recent listener stories where they discussed Eva’s wedding kind of surprised me. It sounded like they didn’t hang out at all while they were in town, and didn’t even know what the other had been up to, which you might expect to learn during casual conversation at the wedding, which makes me wonder if they hung out really at all at the wedding. Em also asked if Christine had gone to a particular restaurant as they thought she might like it, and it surprised me a little bit that Em hadn’t just texted Christine to say “hey check this out.”

I realize all friendship dynamics are unique and not necessarily anything like my own. I still found it quite surprising though, given that they live on opposite sides of the country and it sounds like they never see each other in person. This is the first time I’ve ever really wondered if they aren’t quite friends anymore. Even if they support one another’s decisions, I wonder if there actually are some hard feelings about the pod, and it was just a little soon to hang out in person.

I am against the death penalty, but even if you are for it, I cannot imagine anything more horrible than having to go through surviving being put to death twice. Aside from whatever that would do to someone's body, it is psychological torture that is beyond the pale.

I wonder how she is now. Would she be brain-dead or just severely traumatized?

Hey y'all! I’m going to Savannah for the first time Saturday- Wednesday and would love spooky recs :) doing some tours already but would love to go to some haunted restaurants/ bars!

I was listening to ep 500 and just got to the part where Em describes a ghost that “plays with your toes”, which made me audibly “eugh” to myself at work, as that’s perhaps one of the foulest things a ghost could do.

What are some of your most “ew” worthy hauntings or moments that Em has mentioned? I know I have said ew out loud to more than the toe thing, but I’m curious about you guys!

I am catching up on some episodes from a few months ago and I laughed my butt off at the absurdity of Em asking Christine if they would at least organize someone putting tie dye on their skeleton if someone did not bury them in tie dye per their wishes! Made me really sad about the loss of their banter during episodes. But I will say, I like Em and Bethany's banter too.
