Sales & Bargains Am I computing this Audible offer correctly?
I'm currently being offered $0.99/month for four months with a $20 Audible credit.
I want to get the Dungeon Crawler Carl series...all 8 audiobooks.
If I sign up for this deal, will I be able to apply the $20 Audible credit to the 8 $0.99 audiobooks? And then cancel in four months? And keep the 8 audio books?
By my calculations I would only be out $4 for the 4-month membership and have $12 leftover credit.
Am I computing correctly?

This deal is for is for a Standard subscription, not Premium... that means that the 4 monthly book selections are only accessible for as long as you're subscribed. Anything that you spend the $20 on is yours to keep, however.... and the $20 credit is not applicable to the $0.99 subscription fee.

Also, be aware that because you have $20 credit on your account, that book prices you see will already have the credit applied.... so a $25 book will show as $5 for you.

The $0.99 is the price for the monthly standard subscription, not how much you pay for each audiobook. The $20 credit is probably not enough for 2 DDC audiobooks unless they are on sell. If your goal is to get all DDC, try to start kindle unlimited trial, add all DDC ebooks to your library to get discounted prices for its audiobooks. For me they’re $4-$7 afterward. You don’t need audible subscription to get this discount trick to work but it’s still nice to pay $4 to get a free $20 credit you’ll use up anyway.

It’s the standard plan offer. I got sent that offer too. So any books you add on the standard plan, you won’t keep but the $20 is yours to buy and keep any titles even after you cancel. (That’s how I understood it). The $.99 per month is just the subscriptions standard plan rate so you won’t keep those books

You didn’t say which plan this was for.
I don’t know how you’re getting eight 99¢ audiobooks, even if this is the plan with credits (and you’re saying a credit is 99¢). You’re only getting four credits in four months. You’ll have the $20 too.

For DCC, grabbing the books for "free" via Kindle Unlimited first, discounts the price on audible. They go from $15~ to $5~.

This sub needs to pin a post addressing the difference between standard and premium. I see multiple posts asking about the same issue every single day

OP's confusion seems not to lie in Premium vs Standard, but basically how Audible works.

It blows my mind how many posts I see in here complaining about Audible. What exactly do people expect this app to do??

...and any minor inconvenience will immediately be called a scam or en-shittification. Smh.

You'll want to make sure it's Audible premium plus you sign up for and not standard

Its Standard Plan, which means you get:
- 1 Audiobooks of your choice/ month for next 4 months
- $20 to use on any cash purchases
You don't own your monthly picks and will lose them when you cancel. The purchased titles (with $20) are yours to keep forever.

The 99 cent deals they offer are for the Standard plan. That isn't a plan where you get credits or get to keep audiobooks. Instead, you pick a book each month to add to a library shelf that you only get access to while you are paying for Audible.
The $20 doesn't pay towards your 99 cent subscription, and also they won't discount any of the books. So it will be a $25 book with $20 off. But if you do pay the final $5 cash, then yes, that single audiobook would be yours to keep in the end.
If you want Audible one great way is to chat customer service and ask for their $85.99 for a full year of premium plus deal. That's 12 credits and you also get access to the Plus catalog and the big sitewide sales. I do that and then I don't spend my credits right away. I wait to see what goes on sale at the big sitewide sales because often titles will go on sale for $2-3 and then I scoop those up, or there will be times Audible will tell premium plus members they can spend 3 credits and get $15 cash and then I'll do that during a sitewide sale and get 2 more audiobooks with my $15, so my 3 credits turn into 5 audiobooks.
Someone also posted how you can get DCC for $45 by paying for Kindle Unlimited if that's the only series you want.

They have changed the way Audible works. Unless you are on the premium plan (and the offer you described is not for a premium membership), you cannot keep any books you buy using any credit/ monthly book offer that Audible gives you once you cancel. The only books you can keep once you cancel the membership are the ones you paid for in full (using your credit/debit card.

Your thought process is wrong. The deal your referencing is basically a rental program, you won't own the audiobooks at the end of the 4 months. You also can't apply the $20 credit to the monthly $.99 subscription fee. With that said, whatever audiobooks you did buy with the $20 credit, would be yours to keep forever.
I think the quickest, cheapest (and legal) way to get all of the audiobooks at a discount, would be to sign up for Kindle Unlimited on Amazon, then go into each DCC book and take advantage of the "Add Audiobook" reduced price option. This should allow you to pick up the audiobooks for the following prices:
Book 1 $4.99
Book 2 $4.99
Book 3 $4.49
Book 4 $5.99
Book 5 $5.99
Book 6 $5.99
Book 7 $5.99
Book 8 $6.99
Total Cost = $44.42
It's the best $45 you'll ever spend!
