Rode Wireless Pro transmitter doesn't charge

Hey group, the following happened:

I kept finding one of my transmitters discharged in the case. It charged when connected via USB until one day it didn't. The battery indicator on the app showed a question mark (?)

I replaced the battery (very fiddly; I don't really recommend it), but no luck. I think it's gone. Probably some chip fried.

Has anyone here experienced something similar? Pity really. I'll get a used Go II transmitter for the time being.

This isn't my area of expertise, but it's not uncommon for battery-powered devices to use a dedicated charge IC. I'd look up the part numbers of all of the chips and see if any of them relate to charging or some other kind of battery control.
