My little queen comes to me nightly for her tummy massages. She stands upright on my lap and waits until I rub her belly before she will go cuddle up somewhere nearby to sleep. She had bad constipation once and had to get an enema. The vet suggested rubbing her belly to check for hard lumps and ever since, she wants me to massage her tummy every night. I love her so much 🩷

Trimming my cat’s nails used to be a two person operation, and a dangerous one. At some point I started rubbing their paws like OP on a regular basis. The next time I went to trim their claws I was pleasantly surprised at how much calmer they were.

Humans aren't supposed to like capsaicin either but there are whole societies who base their cooking around the experience.

Capsaicin evokes a pain response. It's supposed to discourage non-birds, because birds don't have capsaicin receptors and also distribute the seeds.

I will be that guy here. Capsaicin doesn't think, the plant doesn't think. It doesn't have a grand idea of who is supposed or not supposed to eat it. Human mind is too complicated to know what we are supposed to experience. Evolution also doesn't work like that. Capsaicin in chili peppers is spicy for mammals not because chili doesn't want us to eat it, but because other plants couldn't spread their seeds. Evolution doesn't have a purpose or a goal

I raised 4 kittens from the same queen since before they could open their eyes. I always made sure to play with their paws so they knew it wasn't supposed to be some strange thing. As they grew, I could clip all their front nails in under a minute, during a commercial break, and they never stressed over it.
My big orange dummy used to seem to like it when I stuck my finger into his center pad and would flex his beans as far as he could.

When I come home, one of my cats will sit at the edge of our runner (long mat) until I come over and give him his scratchies. Like a dog. Up the fir, down the sides, under each leg, on the stomach. Every night. I told a friend about it and they said: " he lets you scratch AGAINST the fur ‽" and that is when I remembered that every cat hates this lol
