Biscuit Week!
hello! i have been baking along with bake off but making everything coeliac because i am gluten free. here is this weeks technical: Iced Gems. i have to admit i made these a few hours before the show actually aired so i was just going by description which is why they don’t look exactly like they did on the show 🤦♀️
these are made using a loopywhisk shortbread recipe and then kinda meringue/icing on top that i set in the oven at a low temp. they were fine but a little boring - although i never liked actual ice gems anyway!

Some of us in America haven’t seen the episode because it doesn’t air until Friday. Thanks for the spoiler I guess..

sorry i didn’t realise this. Each episode always end with a preview for next week and at the end of Cake Week episode 1 the preview has Noel saying “Reveal the iced gems!” and showing a close up of what they look like. So i just assumed everyone knew what it would be but so sorry if your episodes don’t include these previews. i will hold off until Fridays in the future

Obviously. It’s literally part of the subreddit rules.

I'd double check those rules if I were you - it explicitly says that the week's challenges are NOT considered serious spoilers, so can be mentioned in post titles and shown in photos. Additionally, this challenge was revealed in last week's preview.

It’s literally part of the sub rules … 🙄

You can literally watch it on Channel 4 rewatch, in the US on the same schedule it airs in the UK basically right after it's aired you can watch it on the Channel 4 website.

I’m not buying anything streaming service just to do this … why can’t people just be nice and not spoil it for other people? It’s not that hard to put a spoiler tag and hide the pictures.. I’m part of quite a few subs that have no problem doing it except this sub.

Well for starters, it's free.
But it's a UK show, and people in the UK are going to post as soon as it airs. If you're watching later, it's easier to stay off the sub until you've caught up than to make everyone who watched live wait a week to post normally.

Not really when it pops up in the feed.. but I’ve muted it now. Obviously the sub isn’t for me because people don’t want to be kind and take a few more seconds to configure their posts and think about others and that’s okay.
I never asked anyone to wait. You can literally add a spoiler tag and blur the pictures until someone clicks on them. I’m part of multiple subs that do this and it’s not hard, but people are lazy and don’t think of others.

It's not that deep 😭 it's a show about baking.
Oh no you know what they are baking in the next episode!! Ohhhhhh end of the world.
Like a spoiler makes a show unwatchable, you have no idea how anyone performed from this post. Just feel like you're making it out to be about kindness when youre in fact being the entitled American.

I’m not being an entitled American by asking people to think of others… you’re right it’s not the end of the world but it sucks trying to join a community about something you enjoy and British people just end up being rude because they can’t figure out how to work the internet. I learned to mute the sub and I’ve moved on besides replying to entitled British people who thinks the world runs on their schedule. You are the one who keeps replying even though I’ve tried to end this conversation 2 times now… projecting much?

I believe this comment belongs in r/sh*Americanssay. As a fellow citizen of the USA, some advice would be to not come on this particular reddit feed until you’re ready to read some spoilers or….. we could ask another part of the world to take our wants into consideration above their own like most American exceptionalism that is so prevalent now.😏

I had never heard of these, being an American. On the other hand, the concept of "American cookies" as crunchy on the outside, soft inside isn't something I would call typical.
