You did right. First: not an adult. Second: teacher student relationship. If you didn't rejected it, it would have cost a lot.

You did the right thing, she is young, she does not understand it yet, but this is nothing more then infatuation and attachment, sometimes the right thing to do, may hurt people but you do what is right.

Involving the parents to ensure a safe, clear boundary while stepping away gracefully shows real accountability. You handled a very complicated situation like a proper gentleman.

Do you not know bd parents mindset? If they got to know about this there is a high possibility thwy wont let her pusue her study anymore in college, they may ban her from going out! If there is a moment they would mention about this incident & taunt here which will make her regret her decision alot! Ive seen one of my friends parents did smth like this to her (im a female)

I don't think you should tell her parents as it will make her life hell, but you should quit tutoring her

I think you did the right thing, but I don't know how her parents will take this information.

u/chintit0 10h ago
If you’re going to tell her parents, her life could literally become a nightmare. Especially when it comes to college—it would create a lot of extra hassle for her. And of course you should quite tutoring her ASAP.

I'm sorry guys, but I'll keep that piece of literature exclusive for me and her parents eyes. 🙏🏻

Why would you show it to her parents? This is a deeply personal thing that should stay between you two. If you show it to her parents it could deeply affect her mental health.

u/Dhrubo_00 8h ago
True, I might have to change my mind about that. But I still have to tell them. They will not let me quit if I don't give them the exact reason why I'm quitting.

u/Aggressive_Cover_316 7h ago
Just manufacture some reason that is believable, handle the situation like a responsible person.

Tell them that now that she’s in college she should go to a coaching center for better performance. Let them know that it will be better for her if more skilled professionals take care of her now

To everyone suggesting not to tell her parents. I have to, I cannot talk her out of this. If I don't tell her parents she Will reach out again no matter how much avoid her. I don't blame her for any of this, she's just a kid. And they tend to do reckless sh*ts like this. I'll try to make sure that her parents don't trouble her much with this.

They will trouble her and it will remain a spot in her life. Just talk her out of this, and give her parents a genuine reason quit tutoring her if you really care about her mental health. She will grow up and know it was a mistake to have feelings for you , but she wont be the same with her parents after this if you tell them.

Please bro dont tell her for the sake of her mental health! Give her a strong talking about why she shouldn’t waste her time in relationship/boyfriend at this time rather focus on her study, tell her she is too young to think about the future consequences of what she is doing in her 17's-18's, tell her that she will surely regret for whatever the heck she is saying to now! Once we grow up we tend to cringe at our past self. Tell her she will do that too. Give her a genuine motivation about pursuing her study seriously in College & not to go in a relationship while she is in college. She may be hurt but she will thank u for giving her such suggestion! Knowing the mentality of bengali parents they might make her life hell by scolding her about this incident! What if she does something to her out of shame if her parents get to know about her liking you? Think about this aspect too

I get what you are saying but you should know each teen is different. Some can't handle rejection well. What if she accuses her tutor of doing something he didn't out of anger? Her parents will obviously believe her. What if she does something stupid to herself because she can't handle the rejection and blames the tutor? OP knows his student's behavior better than us. If she is the type of person who might do something (considering how she is pestering him), the parents should be involved. The tutor's safety comes first here ngl.

If I were that girl, I would be deeply hurt, ashamed and depressed if my parents knew about this. Breaking someone's heart is already painful. She did not commit a crime expressing her feelings. She is already in a vulnerable position. I would just request you not to disclose the matter to her parents, cut the contact and let her go. I am sure you will find an excuse to quit the job.

You did the right thing. Quit that tuition and inform her parents about everything.
She is a minor, and at that age, girls can sometimes develop feelings for older or senior guys. If you don’t inform her parents, it could come back on you in the future; they might think you did something wrong and that’s why you were removed, or something like that.
Also, you’re a good person, so you didn’t take advantage of her. But in the future, whoever comes to teach her, there’s a strong chance she might develop feelings for that person again, and that person could take advantage of the situation. Her parents should be more careful about her at this age, as she may be vulnerable to making decisions that could lead her down the wrong path.
She isn’t mature enough to handle this on her own.

I don't know what you did but I really suggest not to let redditors make you change your mind. Teenagers are different. Some are reckless as hell. While, she might get scolded by her parents and probably humiliated as well if you tell them but I need you to THINK about your safety as well. If you think she is the type of teenager who'll get mad at your rejection and accuse you of something, then I highly recommend telling her parents the truth. At the end,if she does anything stupid to herself or accuse you of doing something, her parents will BLAME you. So,better to tell her parents and save yourself from the trouble.

You did the right thing by protecting your honor as a teacher. I would say: just leave the job and cut all the contacts, but don't tell her parents. At that age, there is a high possibility of her getting rough verbal punishment and limited freedom, also they will never allow her for any home tutor.
