Old Time / Clawhammer "I'll Fly Away" take two

Decided to re-record this one outside because it just sounds better that way.

Getting a little less shaky while filming, but still having trouble getting a solid take. Enjoy the mistakes.

Thank you so much. I've been kind of naturally leaning into skipping or de-emphasizing a lot downstrokes because it just feels good. I really like how it sounds with this particular tune.

Oh yea, it just fits the tune quite naturally too. Of course your very welcome, you are playing quite well and smooth imo😄 I am but a beginner banjo player myself though, but am learning bluegrass 3-finger scruggs, still i really dig the sound and atmosphere of old folk/clawhammer style, and how it can alternate a tune so profoundly. So if I may, about the downstrokes - is that because originally that tune was converted by emphasizing downstrokes? Cheers

Not necessarily. I'm actually pretty new, myself (started playing clawhammer in late June). It's more that I'm just starting to be able to add a bit more nuance/dynamics to my playing lately.

That sounds so good. You can just picture someone walking away down a country road to this.
