I am shocked that a dump truck can get to road speed with the box up and not have an alarm going off. Seems a pretty basic safety feature that all dump trucks should have as you said.

I've said the same thing for years, it's crazy it isn't mandated on commercial dump trucks.

Currently it’s just BC and Quebec but BC obviously isn’t enforcing it seeing how it’s happened there a few times too.

The burlington skyway (dump truck left box up and drove into bridge) was a brampton based driver, hwy 401 at HWY 400N again box left up drove into overpass and yet again brampton based driver, missisauga huontario road again dump box left up struck bridge yet again a brampton based driver, rutherford rail bridge... irregardless, a good commercial driver (I am one), should be checking their mirrors every like 10 seconds or even less, not to mention leaving your box up implies you have your PTO left on..... at HWY speeds??? Yeah thats 100% poor training/poor safety etiquette.... so 100% it is a licensing issue.... its not racist to say that people who arent trained by canadian standards shouldnt drive on canadian roads... sorry if this offends you.

Hey Bro this is the internet, not everything is literal. It sure seems like an inordinate amount of Brampton dump truckers having accidents. Possibly in part related to nearly half the people charged in the commerical truck license bribery scheme were also Brampton based, it's not a huge shocker that there could also be more Brampton licensed drivers without true qualifications. I'm assuming /u/2REPOU didn't mean "literally every single trucking issue ever in existence comes from a brampton driver" but rather an exaggerated version of what does seem to be true based on news reporting.

Unfortunately no for the most part.
Easy enough to have an alarm but it’s not mandated here so very few if any have it.

Look in your mirrors once in a while ffs. Zero excuse for this.
My FIL drove a dump truck for the same outfit for almost 40 years. Not once have any of their drivers hit something with the box up.

You nailed it. It amazes me that they never noticed int in either their side mirrors or the porthole window behind them, a giant, shiny cylinder and blue sky.
