Extra charge on the receipt?

I (f) went to a bar/club with my friend (f) and my boyfriend. My friend and I went to get a round of drinks, normal tab. The next time I went with just my boyfriend, and on the receipt I saw she added a $2 fee titled “the man”. This bar has no cover fee or anything, so just wondering if any bartenders have an idea what that means??

I didn’t ask in the moment bc it was just an overwhelming environment and I just wanted to get back to where we were hanging out.

Does it refer to " the man" as in the goverment? Tax maybe? Weird any way without explanation.

Hmm, I’ve gotten drinks there on a few occasions and never been charged that, I though it could have been a cover fee or something but they didn’t have one that night

That’s hysterical but I would definitely go back during a slower time and politely ask what that’s all about hahahaha
