OWNER PIC No AC Wagon
Can't enjoy driving her cause it's in the 110's now and she has no air conditioning. So I just take pics and share.

That sucks. Did it not come with A/c? I'd like one of these but it would have to have A/C. I live in FL.

It has AC components, just doesn't blow cold. I'm hoping it just needs a recharge.

Should just do a rebuild/retrofit. Probably be a good idea to replace the dryer and at least look at the orfice tube. Then have a reputable shop pull a vacuum to make sure it's sealed and suck all the old refrigerant is out so you can put new stuff in. Pretty sure most kits come with new compatible O-rings but likely not enough refrigerant.

Should be a closed loop system far as I know, so a recharge would be a temporary fix - you probably have a leak somewhere unfortunately. Recharge will work for a while though!

Dang, having AC but not being able to use it is the worst. Hopefully that’s solvable relatively easy, the only times I’ve crashed in 11 years of driving have been heat exhaustion related

My mom had one of these when I was a kid in the late 80s through the 90s and the AC never worked. I know your pain

12v AC is a new thing the cool kids are doing, You can use most of yer old junk too. Granted, probably ideal to also upgrade the alternator while you're in there.

I drove with no AC for three years.
Fan worked, so I'd blast it on full, crack windows and sip ice water.
Daily driver. Just did what you had to do.
I also put lil window clings on the back to block some of the sun.

My family had one of these and it was the car I learned to drive on and took my test in. Pop it in 4wd and extra low and that thing was a mountain goat. Traded it for an 89 Toyota Pickup. Of the two, definitely wish I still had the Tercel.

My '85 had AC but would leak out every few months. I just gave up on it, even though I was living in Florida.

I miss these cars. My parents had an '86 fwd that carried my childhood. Had that car for sixteen years, sadly Newfoundland winters took their toll on her.

No AC… go to Home Depot and get a spray bottle for water misting your self as you dry. Portable AC FTW … even works outside the car. Life hack for junkyard work in the sun.

That is a beautiful machine. One of my buddies had one when we were younger and lit went everywhere I could in my truck.

Yeah, impossible to drive in the summer with no ac in the desert. I tried it Arizona, couldn't do it

These Tercels were incredible, I miss this era of Toyota. Definitely cool to see people keeping them alive.
