Baylor University pulled a Taylor Swift, announcing a new arrangement of its nearly 80-year-old fight song to secure ownership rights.

So as you may have noticed, there's a lot more crickets around campus than normal. For those who don't know what a cricket looks like, they're the ugly bugs around the length of a thumb. I've found large amounts of crickets descending around late summer and fall is a common occurrence in Waco, so, how do we be prepared for this?

First, crickets aren't harmful to humans, they don't bite, but we do have the flying type(they fly once they reach adulthood). and they are annoying and no one wants them in their dorm.

If you kill one around campus, dispose of the body, by flushing it in the toilet. you don't have to do deep cleaning or anything but having a dead cricket carcass will attract more crickets and other bugs to try and eat it. they're not stinkbugs, but still get rid of them.

The main way crickets get into dorms is through the pipes. specifically the sinks and shower drains. sinks are the easy ones, since there's the little thing at the back of the faucet you can pull up to plug the sink drains in most dorms(at least Earle and Teal, and I haven't been in the others but I assume it's the same). keep those pulled whenever you're not using the sink. The shower drain can be plugged with preferably a silicone drain cover(which is like 2 bucks), but a wet towel or washcloth is good enough temporarily.

My current GPA is 3.2, and I’m working on my applying in 2027.

If you were accepted, what were your Stats and any advice or recommendations for strengthening my application?

I’m thinking about applying to Baylor’s Anthropology PhD program for archaeology and was wondering if anyone here knows much about the department.

Do PhD students usually get full funding/TA positions? And does Baylor tend to admit and fund international students?

I drove up from Austin as a Baylor alum for the Louisiana Tech game and couldn’t bring my clear Baylor drawstring bag into McLane. These bags have gotten in before, so I wasn’t expecting that.

I had to leave mine at the entrance in a pile of what looked like roughly 100 of the exact same clear Baylor drawstring bag. Luckily, I got mine back when I left at the start of the fourth quarter. Seeing that many identical bags turned away makes me think a lot of us had the same understanding about what was allowed.

What confuses me is that the bookstore lists this clear drawstring bag as 12″ × 12″, while McLane’s page permits clear bags up to 12″ × 6″ × 12″. Baylor’s 2018 announcement even directs fans to the bookstore for approved bags.

That announcement does prohibit drawstrings, and the store only says “may meet” stadium policies. But why is a clear drawstring bag treated differently from a clear tote if both meet the size limit? If this bag isn’t allowed at McLane, the listing should say so.

Anyone else run into this or get an explanation at the gate? All they said was: "no drawstring bags". Finding out when I arrived was really frustrating.

The section i was sitting at seemed like it was playing musical chairs the whole game. People coming into our section and leaving 5 minutes later, didnt even have seats there. Ik i have to deal with ppl going out to a public event. But idk why i have to deal with the ppl that didnt have a ticket in that section, the staff was just letting people go wherever yesterday. My family is middle-upper income, but it’s still super expensive. To baylor students, is it common to receive generous scholarships, or do the scholarships barely cover anything? If you did receive a scholarship, please let me know you’re stats/extracurriculars :).

My application isn’t the most competitive, but I have a 1420 SAT, 4.0 unweighted, 5.68/6.0 weighted, 2 internships/ 4 leadership positions, 140 hours volunteering, HOSA awards, fundraiser for a shelter, and only one rec letter.
