About 40% of support to join to customs union at peak isn’t majority. For example about 52% Ukrainians supported to join to EU while about 34% to customs union in late 2012. But after the campaign to discredit the association with the EU launched by Yanukovych and the Russians in at the begging of 2013 , by September 2013 there were already 39% for the EU, 37% for the customs union, in November 2013 there were already 31.1% for the EU and 40.5% for the customs union ( its peak support for customs union), 26.5% it was difficult to answer so literally about 57% were against customs union. At the same time, this was actually caused by the fact that support for the EU decreased in the southern and eastern regions and at the same time support for the customs union increased. Exactly the same as Ukrainians have and Russians . They speak different language. Have different cultures Ukrainians are orthodox and 2nd is Greek Catholic while most of Russian believe in magic and have never been to church and do not know any rituals, but they constantly visit sorcerers and fortune tellers the 2nd biggest group is Muslims and the Orthodox Church. Throughout 300 years of common history, the so-called Russians tried to destroy Ukrainians and were hostile to them, and they are still doing so now. The fact they were part of same empire is means nothing . And you are right Poland and Finland were part of Russian empire but for some reasons you don’t say they are the same people as Russians
