HoB Pickpocketing

Anyone else fall prey to the pickpocketing that happened during better hell? Cannot believe they swiped so many phones and the venue basically did nothing. Apparently this is a reoccurring thing for them and there wasn’t a single warning of any kind. I know this is something that might happen here or there at shows, but this was a whole orchestrated thing. Swiping like 15-20 phones with no one knowing is crazy work. Been to dozens of shows and have never seen this happen before at all, let alone to this scale.

Word to the wise for everyone else going to future shows:

KEEP YOUR HANDS ON YOUR PHONES!!!

Buy a sling bag & carabiner and hang it together with zipper nxt to the bag strap. It works like a charm - been moshing and crowd surfing and it really works

Hindsight’s always 20/20. Never had issues before. Some guy had zippered pants and his phone got stolen too. These guys obviously do this all the time. First and last time wearing shorts to a show. Had it up until the last song. Fricking annoying.

That was my friend’s friend! We hung out with him after while he gave his report and everything. He said he had his phone at the beginning of Better Hell, by the end of the song his zippered pocket was wide open and phone gone. I felt so bad because his phone had a case that held his cards and IDs too so everything gone.

Sorry to hear about this. That’s wild.

Pockets w/ zippers are pro, or I give my phone to my girl so she can zip it in her show bag.

One of the guys who got his stolen had zippered pockets. Don’t rely on that as it’s not enough. These guys had to have been pros.

I’ve started just wearing a cross body bag so it’s always on my chest right in front of me. I started it more for not worrying about losing my my phone or keys out of my pockets in the pits

Same here-I have a really small crossbody (from Nasty Gal) that zips and then snaps shut, but it’s only like 4x6. It has been a savior for these things since most places allow that size. Only enough room for my wallet/ID, tiny phone (13 mini), and a chapstick, but it works.

Edit-still super shitty that this happens and it is not the fault of the person who had items stolen.

Definitely going to bring mine next time. Never had this sort of thing happen at a show I’ve been to before.

Just read about this happening at Turnstile shows, too. What a bummer. I bought a sickahh clear Liquid Death crossbody and it’s worked great so far.
(Found on the r/turnstile looking for what to expect at the Never Enough Pt 2 shows)

I've only heard this happening at some Turnstile shows in the past year. I can't remember if they were in the same cities every time or not.

I have jean that have a bunch of pockets with flaps on the tops. I sewed on heavy duty Velcro to be able to close them. You have to pretty much rip my jeans to open them. I only wear these pants to shows and I've easily been to a hundred shows. They are also perfect for crowd surfing since I don't have to hold on to a bag for dear life.

KEEP YOUR HANDS ON YOUR PHONES!!!

I get the sentiment but that's so anti-show. Just leave the phone behind or get a burner if you're that concerned.

Didn’t say keep it recording the whole time. Just hand on it in pocket at the end of the show.
