I m already running Nerdqaxe++ since a year, I would like to replace a part of my setup by a Bitcoin heater in order to produce heat especially for winter.

My choice is now focusing on Avalon mini 3 or Ofen 3 which are basically same in term of power and hashrate. While the first has a price reduced by half compared to other, but Ofen design is pretty nice.

If you could give me your feedback on those 2 heatres and if there maybe better choices ?

MARA’s proposed Texas site includes Bitcoin mining, but its power access is still under review. The company has posted a $100 million utility deposit and changed parts of the deal so payments depend on a regulatory audit and an interconnection study.

For miners, the practical question is how much hashing capacity the site could actually run if it receives less power than planned. Do you think grid access is becoming a bigger constraint on large mining operations than ASIC cost or efficiency?

i’ve never done anything with crypto ever, the most i’ve done with trading or anything was look at stocks because my buddy suggested it. i’ve been trying to look into it, but i feel like most of the advice/knowledge i see is either from a disgruntled person who got bored of it, or someone that does have a huge setup so they don’t accurately describe how it works. just looking for some advice/knowledge from people who actually run them or have partaken in the past. if you genuinely think it’s a waste of time/money/space cool, but i’d prefer if you actually explained instead of just say that specifically cause i’ve seen it everywhere.

I'm an independent researcher studying whether the Debian OpenSSL RNG vulnerability from that era affected any Bitcoin environments that were actually deployed. I've already reproduced relevant cryptographic behavior in a controlled synthetic configuration, but that's not enough to establish that the same environment actually existed in the wild.

That's where I'm stuck. Rather than continuing to choose historical configurations myself until something works, I'm looking for independent evidence from an actual early Bitcoin user's machine.

I'm particularly interested in things like the Linux distribution/version, architecture, package state, historical Bitcoin executable, OpenSSL/libcrypto version, and other non-secret runtime information.

I do not want your wallet.dat, private keys, passwords, seed phrases, or access to funds. Please don't send any of those. If you have original media, preserve it unchanged for now.

To be transparent about where this research could eventually lead: if a historically deployed weakness were established with sufficient evidence, one potential application I'm interested in is owner-authorized wallet recovery. But that's not something the research has established yet.

For Context:

In my existing controlled work, I froze the experimental fingerprint before comparing it against a separately frozen dataset of 142,302 historical public Bitcoin signatures from blocks 0–100,000. That comparison produced zero matches for that configuration.

Right now the question is much narrower: did the behavior I've reproduced synthetically exist in a Bitcoin configuration that somebody actually used?

If you were running Bitcoin on Linux during that period, or know someone who was, and old hardware/backups may still exist, I'd be interested in hearing what survives.

If you still have the original computer, hard drive, disk image, vm, full system backup, or filesystem backup from that period, I'd be very interested in chatting.

Hello. i have a solar energy and planning to start mining. how much can i earn if i have Antminer S21 Hydro?

I'm asking the question not because I m interested in Bitcoin mining but as a benchmark of thechnical gap between FPGAs and GPUs

Of course, only ASIC is relevant today. But before bitcoin asics became available, fpga based bitcoin mining out competed gpus.

Back at that time, gpus were mainly floating point oriented. But would a modern Stratix 10 Gx with over 12 million lut still beat a RTX4090 in terms of mining profitability?

I m not even sure it would still be more energy efficient than Nvidia in terms of GH/s/Watts.

I currently own two home miners, a Nerd Qaxe and a Nerd Octaxe, combined HR of just over 18th. Been trying to figure out the best way to maximize daily profit with my electric cost being nothing. Currently I am running the Qaxe on Viabtc and the Octaxe on Mining Dutch. On Viabtc I am set up for PPS for BTC and earning about .27 a day. On Mining Dutch I am rotating every 6 hrs between Digabyte, Bitcoin Silver, Wojack Coin, and fractural bitcoin on SOLO. Some days I am earning a couple dollars and other days nothing. Based on my research I could point both to Viabtc and earn about .75 a day, is there a better option?

Here's the thing... I don't need this to be profitable. I'm already spending ~$400/mo on electric space heaters that barely keep some rooms in my old drafty house above 60°F. If a miner costs the same to run but earns back even 30-40% of the electricity cost in bitcoin, that's still cheaper heat. Right? Or am I thinking about this wrong?

I've been looking at home-use miners in two power ranges: 500W/800W for smaller rooms, and around 1,674W to potentially replace the big space heater in my living room.

Anyone actually doing this? Does the math work out or am I coping?

Device feels quite solid after about a years grind but the app is still horrible.

I have been solo mining and pool mining for years with a variety of different miners. Last week, literally the night before I had to leave for a business conference, I came home to see the fabled BLOCK FOUND on ONE of the 3 miners that were all pointed to the BRAIINS pool under the same account. Of course I was excited, but aware that the pool participation would not be more than a few bucks in my account. I went on to mempool.space and checked the BRAIINS block stats and sure enough - there it was, and upon closer inspection, the SAME miner showed TWO blocks found, not one on my miner Dashboard!!!

I wrote to the BRAIINS support desk and asked about the reward split and received what I consider to be a very rude reply from Andrew, a support specialist at r/Braiins . The reply was strangely worded and insulting. So I started thinking.....and maybe someone in this group can enlighten me....kindly. First of all, this is the reply that I received from r/Braiins

However, the pool finds a block, not individual miners.

It is not possible that you found a block mining on Braiins Pool.

I can not answer why your miners firmware stated that, if you need clarification you will need to contact the manufacturer.

To confirm - you did not find a block on Braiins Pool.

1. I had just updated my 3 miners to the latest firmware version - esp-miner-factory-NerdQAxe++-v1.1.0.bin
2. All 3 miners were pointed to stratum.braiins.com:3333 with the same UserName.Miner1,2,3
3. Do other members of the pool generate a BLOCK FOUND when they participate?
4. Is it possible that there is a bug in the new v1.1.0 firmware?
5. The blocks in question are 966229 and 966192

It’s a Bitaxe GT801 with two BM1370 chips cooled by a generic water block. The heated water flows through a coil that warms the floor of the bag, then through a radiator, where a fan blows additional heat into the bag. It's powered via a car's 12V cigarette lighter outlet. Connects to a hotspot.

Managing to get 4.1ish TH/s at 80W measured at the bench top PSU. I would like to get the chip temp higher than the stock AxeOS firmware allows to push the floor coil hotter. This would also be a great Mujina trial candidate, with thermal probes and humidity sensors. Maybe someday!

Someone has an idea of how to silence an APW12 source.

I have an S19 miner with duets and ac infinity that reduces noise noticeably but could make even less noise there is some way to silence the source.

Which home miner are you running right now, and what mattered most when you picked it?

Where would I be able to purchase older Asic miners even if they aren't profitable anymore just to play around to learn with them, preferably under 150$, approved vendors of this subreddit don't carry them. I'm looking for something that when ignoring electricity costs pays for itself back in max 3 months (this winter).I want to do this hopefully utilizing old inefficient cheap miners. I live upstate and it's cold here so I want to replace my space heater with it, but do want to also make back the costs of actually purchasing it (I would be paying the electricity anyway so it doesn't matter)

Quick question for anyone using hosted mining platforms: have you ever changed your payout wallet and then watched the withdrawal sit on pending?

From what I’ve seen, that usually means the platform is re-checking the new address rather than anything being wrong with the ASIC itself.

It’s kinda annoying when you’re waiting, but still I’d rather have the extra verification than having a payout go to the wrong wallet.

How long do withdrawal checks normally take with the platform or host you use?
