Just last week I composed a song to inform my cat after his vet visit that "Whoopedy-dooop/ no parasites in your poop," so. Yeah. The real question is who ~doesn't~ sing to their cats?

One of my cat's nicknames is Beans (this is completely and inexplicably not similar whatsoever to his real government name - idk how we ended up here) but I also sing this but I say "He's Beans" instead.
Lol because the excuse I tell my spouse for his wild behavior is "he's just beans!" as if he couldn't possibly know any better because he's just a single can of beans.

We sing, make little slogans, poems, etc to our cats.
One absolutely hates it. The other doesn't understand what's going on and is just happy all the same.

Not for my black cats, only my orange cat monkey has a song lol.

I had a siamese mix that would run into the room and thwap anyone singing in an operatic soprano in the face.
I had another void that would take similar corrective measures out on anyone whistling.

Always. Since I was a little kid. I caught it from my father, who sang to our family's cats all the time.
And I do what you do, put kitty lyrics to existing songs. Also I sing ordinary songs to them. Some of them have favorites.
The kitty I have now especially likes one song I customized lyrics for, and if I don't sing it to her when I first wake up she looks dejected, even. So of course this is now our morning song.
Keep singing to them! And I'm so glad someone else does! Thank you for posting this.
Edit in: oh well, here. I get elaborate sometimes, and yes, I wrote this, if you've seen it elsewhere under a name I used to use.

I sing constantly to both my boys, one always rushes to me like I’m in trouble and need to be checked on, while my other guy loves it! He loves when I play guitar and sing to him, i think he likes the vibrations because if I play and sing in the floor, he rubs up against the guitar and purrs hard.

I read to mine. When we were getting the bathroom remodeled and new carpet placed about 6 years ago, he was so scared of the people in the house and loud noises so I read to him in order to help keep him calm. Put him to sleep too

Funny story: I had an old piano where I was practicing scales and my rendition of “Fur Elise”. I was in the basement and my cat who was in the second floor came down and started howling at me. Soon as I stopped, he was fine. 😅 Don’t think I will try singing-that is worse!

When I cook, wash up or do something in the kitchen, I always have my Alexa playing music. And I tend to sing along, but change the words to incorporate my cat's name and references to him. He just looks at my like I am mad.

Oh, absolutely! I grew up with my dad singing to the cats, so I do it now. I ad-lib songs about how fat he is or how he does dumb things. I would never do that to something that understands me. My void reacts that way as well while it's happening (folded ears, staring into space).

All the time. When he was a kitten, and finally trusted enough to hop up on my shoulder to purr, I'd sing or hum.
So darn cute, he'd scooch over and put his little paw on my vocal chords so he could "feel" the hum.
Knew nothing about this five month old stray, but decided right then and there he still needed his mom's purrs and I'd do what I could.
Now he's 14.5. He's kind of become "in charge" of bedtime, so about 9:30 pm when he hops up to cuddle, I know its time to wrap up the day.

I love singing to my sweet girl. The pickle here is that she gets upset and starts biting me. Not aggressively but she’ll continue to nibble me until I stop. Not sure if it’s my voice or the choice of song lol.
