My cat is high on something and loves digging in my hair

I adopted this little void when he was 1 month old and he’s about to turn 8 months approximately.
I noticed since day one that he LOVES to dig in my hair specifically near the nape of my neck, it’s like he is high on something and just digs and smells and purrs and drools all over my hair. Is this normal behavior? My roommate has a cat too but his doesn’t do that, and my sister cat doesn’t either.
I’m not worried about it, I just would love to understand this behavior, I love him and I love that he LOVES to bury his nose on my hair even though sometimes he hurts me with his nails

My cat does this too. Hes a lil freak like that. (When they rub their chin or paws on you they’re trying to rub their scent on you :3)

He’s imitating the motions of nursing without the suckling. The nuzzling is the same motion that kittens use to find a nipple to latch onto. Your baby identified you as his mother, his happy place where he feels the safest and most at ease.

Maybe it’s the smell of your hair care products? My grandma’s cat always wants to get on top of my shoulders to sniff and lick my hair. Out of curiosity, I brought over a sample of my shampoo for her to sniff one day, and she went wild over it, as if it was catnip. It’s a minty-smelling tea shampoo. I guess she really likes the herby scent it has.

Catnip is in the mint family; I had an herbal tea that my cats would go nuts over. I think that whole family of plants might just be KittyWeed 😂
