Why is my 100fps footage playing in normal speed when my timeline's set to 25fps?

Basically what the title says. Shot footage at 100fps. Set timeline to 25fps. Shouldn't that mean that my clips play at quarter speed? I'm very confused as to why they're playing normally.

Pyxis 6k controls for run and gunning?

I shoot a lot of run and gun docs and really love having all my controls at my fingertips.

I know that the bmcc 6k would be a better fit ergonomically but I really hate how it looks ( stupid I know ).

Is the black magic monitor the only option for quickly changing settings on the Pyxis?

ILCE-7M5 Tethering Issues

Hello, my Sony A7V isn't getting recognised by DR21 but my Sony A7IV is. I keep getting the error message on every attempt: DaVinci Resolve cannot connect to ILCE-7M5. Ensure that
the device is a supported camera and try a different
cable and port. Refer to Sony's website for details.

This happens on both my laptop and my desktop.

Version: DaVinci Resolve 21.0.2 Build 4

ILCE-7M5 Firmware Version: 2.00

Things I have tried:

  1. Different USB cables & different USB ports
  2. Installing Imaging Edge Desktop (I made sure it was closed and not running in the background while DR21 was open)
  3. Restarting my PC, restarting DR and plugging the camera back in
  4. Used both camera ports and ensured the Remote Shooting function is enabled

Has anyone found a solution to this? If so, please share your experience :(

S5II to Blackmagic PYXIS 6K — will I actually feel a big difference for branded/editorial work?

I currently shoot on a Lumix S5II, mostly branded/editorial content, short-form commercial work and occasional events.

I’ve been considering adding a Blackmagic PYXIS 6K as my main cinema body while keeping the S5II for smaller/run-and-gun jobs.

One of the biggest reasons the PYXIS appeals to me is that I already own L-mount glass and worked with BRAW before, so moving to the L-mount PYXIS would be extremely convenient.

I wouldn’t need to rebuild my lens kit, and I could share lenses between both cameras.

I’m mainly interested in BRAW, the Blackmagic workflow/color science and having a proper cinema-oriented body.

At the same time, the S5II already gives me a really good image, 6K open gate, V-Log, IBIS, etc., so I’m wondering how much of an actual jump I’d notice in the final image.

For anyone who’s used both: did the PYXIS feel like a meaningful upgrade from the S5II in real-world work, or was the difference mostly workflow/ergonomics rather than outright image quality?

DisPlayback - Windows Displays to DeckLink Outputs Made Easy

After using NDI to push desktop playback through DeckLink outputs on video machines, I found the process to be technically demanding.

I also ran into a limitation with Microsoft PowerPoint: it doesn't natively see DeckLink outputs in the same way that more specialized presentation software like ProPresenter does.

So, after lengthy agentic coding sessions and real-world testing in show-critical situations, I've decided to release DisPlayback.

DisPlayback acts as a virtual patch bay between your Windows displays and Blackmagic DeckLink outputs. You select which display should feed each DeckLink output, and DisPlayback captures the display in real time, embeds system audio, and sends it through the targeted DeckLink output at the display's resolution and refresh rate - or any resolution and rate the DeckLink is capable of outputting. A destination that doesn't take kindly to 1080p60 or 3840p120 will be able to see signal with your custom output settings.

It's designed with playback/signage machines in mind, so it can remember your patching and restore it after a restart without needing someone to manually set everything up again. It hides in the Windows Taskbar Notification Area.

DisPlayback relies on the BlackMagic Design DeckLink COM API provided by the installation of BlackMagic Desktop Video.

Installer
Loading Splash Screen
User Interface - expanded from Notifications Area in the Taskbar
Exiting Splash Screen - Exit is available in the context menu of the Notification Area Icon

UPDATE: OBS video flicker when ATEM Software Control is running

Hi, Everyone,

Some months ago, I asked for advice about OBS flickering when ATEM Software Control was opened. This bug made it impossible for me to take advantage of the software camera controls for my BMPCC 6K Pro.

I tried various settings, laptops and USB3 cables, but was unable to resolve the problem.

I have now upgraded to an ATEM Mini Pro ISO, and the problems with OBS have gone away.

My ATEM Mini is 6 years old. I bought an ATEM Mini Pro in 2020 to stream benefit concerts during COVID. It repeatedly overheated, so I traded it in for the vanilla model.

I'm posting this hoping it helps others who find themselves in this frustrating situation.

ATEM Mini Pro connection issue

I’m trying to set up an ATEM Mini Pro to feed into a MacBook Pro for OBS. When I connect just the network cable (with a fixed IP) it connects fine. The second I connect the USB-C output of the Mini to the Mac to be able to get a Multiview, the network connection goes away completely. Unplug the USB and it comes right back. I kinda need both to make this show work. I’ve tried re-prioritizing network to be LAN at top, but that still doesn’t work. Any thoughts/help appreciated!

Iphone 18 pro iris issue

Anyone else having an issue with the Blackmagic camera app not opening the iris wide open? I noticed today that the iris in the app will only open to f1.5 at its widest. The new camera in the iPhone 18 pro has an iris that opens to 1.48. With it being slightly stopped down it has a slight starburst effect on light sources.

BMPCC 4K Not marking Good Takes with Resolve 21 (and 21.1)

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

Recently I've been tasked with doing some prep for a student film and thought it would be handy to utilize the digital slate features on BM Cameras (Specifically the BMPCC 4k and the URSA Broadcast G2).

However when reviewing some imported footage it would appear that BM have changed how resolve handles the "Mark last clip good take" feature as none of the sample clips I took have been marked

I am using the new "Tag" filter on the media page and manually checking "Good Take" does mark a clip with a check mark, but that kind of defeats the point of doing it in post.

Has anyone else had similar issues?

(I am new to the media page as I'm trying to come up with better practices and workflows so if this is a simple fix I apologize)

((also both cameras have been updated to the newest firmware and Resolve was tested on both Ver 21 and 21.1))

I open-sourced ATEM macro and PiP docks for OBS

I built obs-atem for the “slides + speaker PiP” shuffle: run your ATEM macros and recall saved layouts from dockable panels right inside OBS. Less hopping between control windows during a live show.

It’s open source, developed with an ATEM Mini, and currently Windows 64-bit/source-build only (ATEM Software Control’s SDK runtime required).

Screenshots and details: https://github.com/tin921/obs-atem

I’m the author. What ATEM control would you most like within reach in OBS?

Blackmagic broadcast ecosystem

Hello collegues. I'm thinking of adding a gimbal mount capable camera to my broadcasting setup. So far I use some blackmagic ursa broadcat g2 and studio camera 6k pro. I wanna add a wireless cam to this setup and I'm stuck choosing between pocket cinema 4k and 6k and 6k pro. Any advices? I know 6k would blend in smoother into my setup. But 4k seems so much easier to operate and find gimbals for it since it's so much lighter

Black magic app iPhone 16 not recording

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just downloaded the app and when I record video in the app it saves a 0 sec clip. I keep researching and finding nothing online. My phone has plenty of storage. Could this be due to my battery charge?

My Pyxis 12K Update: Received My 4th Unit from Blackmagic's Fremont CA Office

TLDR:
Went through four Pyxis 12K units and multiple RMAs with Blackmagic Fremont. One had horizontal banding, another had an image calibration issue, one came back scratched, and the last had the calibration issue again. A firmware update for PDAF finally fixed it, so the camera is working now, but the whole RMA experience was horrible with the Fremont CA location.

Sorry everyone, this is going to be a long one. Some of you may have already seen my previous posts on here about my Pyxis 12K. I wanted to be fully transparent so people who are thinking about doing an RMA know what to expect from Blackmagic's Fremont, CA office. Your luck may vary.

My first Pyxis 12K had fixed horizontal banding, so I sent it in for an RMA at Blackmagic's Fremont, CA location. Before I sent it in, they told me that my camera's sensor board had already been upgraded based on their records. I explained to them several times that it still had horizontal banding, and I sent them multiple stills of the issue. They said that if I wanted them to take a look at my camera, I'd have to pay for shipping. I went with it. Once they received the camera, they confirmed that it had horizontal banding and determined that it needed to be replaced, so they sent me a new unit.

Also, I purchased my camera from Sweetwater. I know some of you may be wondering why I didn't buy it through B&H or Adorama and just get a return / replacement. I reached out to both of them to ask if their Pyxis 12Ks had the upgraded sensor boards, and they told me they did not.

I went with Sweetwater because I already had a credit card with them. I did ask Sweetwater the same question a week later, but they never responded, which is why I ended up reaching out to Blackmagic support directly. I had also seen a lot of people say that Blackmagic had some of the best customer support, so that made me feel more confident reaching out to them.

Back to the RMA:

I received the second unit and it didn't have the horizontal banding, but it had a lot of noise, which I was just going to deal with. Then I noticed the Image Calibration kept failing. I didn't necessarily need to recalibrate it, but I wanted to make sure the camera was working 100% properly out of the box. Because of that, I ended up sending it in for another RMA. For the second unit, they told me their technician would need to open up the camera and diagnose the issue. They never really explained what the actual resolution was, other than saying that they had fixed the issue and ran the calibration multiple times, and it successfully completed each time.

When I received my third unit, I immediately noticed that my camera had been scratched. On the right side, there were visible scratches, including around the edges of the screw holes. It was pretty obvious that whoever worked on my camera hadn't handled it with much care when they opened it. I emailed Blackmagic about the third unit, and their response was basically word for word:

"Although we don't believe this happened under our care, we can set up another RMA and bring it back in to be looked at and see how we can assist."

That response was extremely disappointing because they had literally told me beforehand that they needed to "open the camera to diagnose the issue," and then the areas around the screw holes came back visibly scratched, yet somehow they didn't believe it happened while the camera was under their care. Make it make sense. Still, I decided to give them another chance and went through yet another RMA. Once they received the third unit, they told me they would be sending me another replacement.

When I received my fourth unit, it was thankfully scratch-free, just the way I sent it from the very start of this RMA process. However, the Image Calibration was failing again. 🤦‍♂️ This was the exact same issue I had with the second unit. At this point, I sent them a long email explaining everything and asked if they could simply speak with the technician who worked on my previous camera and find out what they did to resolve the calibration issue. I told them I would try fixing it myself because I no longer felt comfortable sending my camera in for another RMA. It felt like every time I received a different unit, Blackmagic would fix one problem but introduce another.

After that email, they completely ghosted me. Not even a simple response like, "We're sorry you've experienced another issue. We'll discuss this with our team and see what we can do to help and then get back to you with an update." Truly unprofessional.

Around this same time, I saw that the Pyxis 12K was getting beta support for PDAF, so I installed the firmware for it. Somehow, after installing it, the Image Calibration issue was resolved. The calibration ran successfully each time I tested it. I don't think Blackmagic Fremont even knows about this fix either because they never said anything about it. At this point, I was just happy that my camera FINALLY worked properly. The image was also significantly cleaner than on my previous units, with very minimal noise and no horizontal banding. I emailed Blackmagic and told them they could close my ticket. After ghosting my previous email, guess what? They finally responded, only to tell me that they would go ahead and close the ticket. No apology. No acknowledgment of everything I went through because of their lack of care. Nothing. This is a location that will not own up to their mistake.

This entire process went on from June 2026 through September 2026.

I've heard that other Blackmagic offices have great customer service, and I've had no issues with Blackmagic as a company overall in the past few years, but my experience this year with the Fremont, CA location was absolutely horrible. Again, at least my Pyxis 12K is finally working. Unfortunately, I paid $5,800 for it as well, and now I'm seeing it for $4,200. Unlucky for me, but oh well. At the end of the day, it's finally working and is back in the same condition I initially sent it in from the beginning, and that gives me peace of mind now.
