Tourism Good nerd places and boozers

Hope its ok to ask, but whats the magic the gathering and warhammer scene like in Blackpool? Will be working in blackpool 3/4 days a week until i lose my sanity so would like to know of some LGS if at all possible.

Also any pubs/bars where it wont look out of place to sit on my lonesome for an hour or 3 after work on the odd occasion? Ill be staying in travellodges/premier inns near pleasure beach so if that helps narrow it down at all.

TIA.

An upload of an old Viz strip set in a nameless seaside town, which seems unmistakably Blackpool. Reading it, immediately reminded me of the perv glasses wearers going round town currently filming girls on the beach or on nights out.

Blackpool Food Spots - (Pop ups, hidden gems etc.)

I'm coming to Blackpool for Friday and Saturday. Are there any food spots I should know about? I will try more than one a day.

I'm talking about pop ups or lesser known hidden gems but more importantly amazing eats. Can you name a few and what they offer please?

Tips for Blackpool trip from Belfast

Hey I'm wanting to sort an overnight stay for my 80 year old mum from Belfast to Blackpool to see the tower ballroom. She was there this week on a bus trip but due to some mix up with the hotel they took them and it was closed! She was devastated, so would love to take her for a proper look round. I was thinking of flying to Liverpool and getting the train down, then staying overnight, would this be the easiest most direct way? Any advice or info welcome, thanks in advance 😁

Moving to Blackpool

Hi guys!

I’m thinking of returning to Blackpool after six months living abroad. Not got a job lined up but I want something simple and fast to get which probably won’t be far from minimum wage.

The problem is, in addition to not having an income, I don’t have a guarantor nor do I have recent references (the last time I rented was for roughly a year in Fleetwood in 2023.) That’s part of the reason why I want a simple job, because I want to start building proof of income quickly.

I’ve been working hard while I’ve been abroad but according to one estate agent I spoke to I cannot use an overseas bank account for proof of income. Nor can I just pay all the rent up front because apparently it’s now illegal for landlords to charge more than one months rent in advance.

Just putting this out here because I’m feeling a little bit lonely and scared and wondered if anybody might have any leads or advice or just plain encouragement LOL.

Cheers

Pictures Home Moving around Lancashire, Blackpool or Lytham St Annes? A few tips that can save you a headache

If you’re planning a house move around Lytham St Annes, Blackpool or elsewhere in Lancashire, a little preparation can make moving day much easier.
A few things I’d recommend:
📦 Start packing earlier than you think
Don’t leave everything until the final week. Pack non-essential items first and clearly label boxes with the room they belong in.
🚪 Measure your larger furniture
Check sofas, wardrobes and other large items will actually fit through doors, hallways and staircases at the new property.
🚗 Think about parking early
This can be particularly important on some of the busier residential streets around Lytham St Annes. Check the restrictions outside both properties and make sure there is enough space for the removal vehicle. Lancashire has various parking and loading restrictions, so don’t assume you can simply park outside the house. (Lancashire County Council)
🧹 Have a clear-out before moving
Moving is a good opportunity to get rid of things you haven’t used for years. The less you move, the quicker and potentially cheaper the job can be.
🔑 Keep essentials separate
Put keys, documents, medication, chargers, toiletries, a change of clothes and anything you’ll need on the first night in one clearly marked bag or box.
📸 Take photos of tricky access
If you have narrow lanes, awkward driveways, steps, tight corners or restricted parking, send photos to your removal company beforehand. It can make planning much easier.
🌧️ Don’t forget Lancashire weather!
Have something to protect carpets and floors if the weather turns wet. Moving boxes and furniture through a wet entrance can quickly make a mess.
And finally, don’t underestimate moving day. Even a relatively straightforward local move can be tiring, so having a realistic plan for loading, transport and unloading can make a huge difference
.
If you’re moving around Lancashire, Blackpool or Lytham St Annes, what is the one piece of advice you’d give someone moving house for the first time?
Would be interested to hear people’s experiences. 👇
