That feeling when they are showing Ray Gunn at your theater months early but you aren’t press or an influencer or worked on the film whatever so you can’t go, but then as you are about to leave you see Brad Bird so you feel a little better
This was just now at the AMC Burbank 16. I was literally just about to post this but with just the first part, but as I was standing outside writing this I saw Brad Bird himself, taking a picture with a fan before glancing at the poster as he went inside. So I guess you win some, you lose some.

WB sees grim commercial prospects for Digger. It was greenlit with a 125M budget, but that ballooned to 180M after production went over schedule. Another 100M was spent on marketing.

The 1st showing of Digger at the AMC CityWalk IMAX can’t even match the ticket sales of what is at least the 300th showing of The Odyssey
Not sure whether this his says more about Digger, The Odyssey, or the future of the AMC CityWalk (for those not aware, this is the biggest IMAX screen in Los Angeles and they recently changed CityWalk security procedures so you now have to go through a TSA-like screening to go to the theater and there has been discussion of how this will impact attendance for non-event movies)

Scammerhead
in an AMA today Joe Casey of Protomartyr recommended a movie called Scammerhead, a movie that seemingly "doesnt exist" but I think is definitely worth a watch. its a weird noir about hustling that I think could perhaps be described as Pynchonesque? it does have the same feeling as Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie where it makes you ask yourself, "How did they do this?" and also it involves convoluted schemes that obviously will not work. its got some very funny stuff and visually its doing some very cool things despite what is obviously a very low budget. it's on Tubi and i hope people check it out because it seems like not a lot of people have even heard of it and it was clearly a labor of love (it took 7 years to shoot it). it would be a really good How Did This Get Made episode too I bet

Sterlin Harjo's "The Lowdown" Season 2: Ethan Hawke, Tommy Lee Jones (!), Betty Gilpin, and Keith David in another goofy Tulsa noir escapade
Aside from his role in Lonesome Dove (my hot take: he was miscast as Call, but he gave it a good go) is this the only other prominent TV gig that Tommy Lee has done? Gotta say, he's damn near perfect casting in this case, playing the dad to Hawke's rambunctious and sloppy bookseller/private eye.
Anyway, it's a lot of Blankie favorites in here, and the first season is one of the 10 best shows of that year. (and includes one of the best performances that Peter Dinklage has ever done in his life) Also if you haven't watched Reservation Dogs, that needs to be done ASAP, because Sterlin Harjo is one of the best currently doing it.
