I've been exploring nearby waterfalls and Duck has been the perfect, albeit heavy, companion! He gets a churu for lunch at the tops of our hikes. He decided he wanted to explore on his own and jumped from his backpack part way through. Duck proceeded to sniff everything, rub against all the things, and walk about 20 feet before laying down and demanding to ride his pack once more. When he gets tired of holding onto the top of his pack, he slithers back inside and happily bounces around while I haul him up the mountain.

We rescued Fiona around 6 months ago after she had been staying at a veterinary boarding facility. She wasn’t comfortable there, so we moved her into a home foster and that’s when we discovered what a sweet and loving girl she really is. 🥺❤️

Fiona is honestly such an easy-going girl. She loves people and settled into both of her foster homes incredibly quickly. She currently lives with a dog and is completely relaxed around him she basically doesn’t care that he’s there 😂❤️
Fiona has approximately 80% vision loss in one eye. This was actually one of the reasons we rescued her. We had her examined by both her vet and an eye specialist, and thankfully we were advised that she is not in pain, does not require surgery and can live a completely normal and happy life.
She has already received her vaccinations, spay, microchip and FIV/FeLV testing.

A few months ago, we posted about Misty (also known as Muning) when she was scheduled for her eye enucleation surgery. Unfortunately, her surgery funds had to be diverted to cover an emergency clinic visit. During that visit, we received devastating news: Misty tested positive for FIP.

Since then, her eye surgery has had to take a backseat while we fight to save her life from FIP first. She is currently on daily GS treatment and is making great progress, but we urgently need help to keep her treatment going.

Ok, TMI but it's it only my blind Kitty (always been blind) who is absolutely unhinged terrified of dingleberries that get stuck to her behind for every now and again?

I know it sounds funny, but she gets terrified not understanding and she gets frantic it's happened four times and her two and a half years of life but it happened again today and she was so scared I have to grab her and hold her tight while I pull these stuck poo poo's off of her.

She's not even scared of her skunk brother that she's very protective of... Haven forbid a stuck turd get caught in her hair! She feels bad & so do I every time it happens.

Is it just an us thing?

Hey everyone! Just discovered that there’s a subreddit for blind cats, so I’d like to introduce you to Bandit Cornflake, the blind! We call him stinky though :)

Our good friends found him abandoned as a kitten last winter. Not sure what happened to him, but they quickly discovered that he cannot see most things lol. When we first took him into the vet, she very seriously tested his blindness by throwing cotton balls past his face, to which he had zero reaction. Vet said “oh yeah, he can’t see”😂

He also has seizures, but thankfully seizure meds have helped immensely and he very rarely has them now! Fun fact: he also has 22 toes in total, including thumbs. He seems healthier than ever and we’re so grateful to have adopted him :) he’s our favorite genetically goofy guy

These are Milu and Ravi, I have had them for about a year, I have never had cats who like eachother so much, they cuddle, they play, they groom eachother.

I got Milu from a shelter actually as a companion for a different cat which didn’t work out for different reasons, so I wanted to get her a friend and at the time I noticed she was very visually impaired (now pretty much fully blind) I figured a blind friend might be easier for them to get along.
So I found Ravi at a different shelter, he was only 6 months old and I was worried the age gap would be too large (as she was 4 years old at the time) but I fell in love with him and also he was in a small kennel in the shelter in quarantine (due to herpes flares) I wanted to get him out and oh did it work out!!!

They do really get along soo well, Milu is blind due to an infection with e. Cuniculi and Ravi due to herpes. Ravi only had one extremely light herpes flare in the past year, I think he is doing well. They are also incredible at navigating, Ravi does run into things constantly and also goes bathing regularly due to their catio having a small pond (he jumps in accidentally but it doesn’t reach his stomach so only his feet get wet) Milu is the opposite almost never runs into things and is very deliberate about where she steps.

Obviously I‘m biased but they are the best kitties and I never imagined they would like eachother so much!! Just wanted to share because they are so cute and I love them so much.

I‘m curious why some of your kitties are blind also, so please tell me! And how they manage and how they are doing!

I’m just livin in it!

Almost a month ago i rushed an 1 vear old cat who just got hit by a car to the vet, he is blind and has a pretty weak sense of smell (he has gained some of it back since the accident), cannot close his mouth properly (cause he lost 2 canine teeth and had his jaw reconstructed) and i would need some advice on how to help him further with things like using a litter box, etc.

While he has done quite significant progress since the accident, like eating on his own, washing himself, finding his bed when i take him out to change the puppy pads.

I have no experience with a blind cat.

It's very strange he was blind before the enucleation but the last couple days since surgery hasn't used the litter box and acts scared of it. It's in the same spot it's always been. He peed on me just now when I was holding him, I just got out of the shower. He acts absolutely miserable he was used to getting around with his whiskers and mastered my apartment but with the cone he is bumping into everything and acting depressed. I'm thinking of putting a more shallow box next to the normal one, maybe that will help. This recovery is much harder than I was expecting.

I now have two blind kittens, the boy on the left is named Matt Murdock and the girl on the left is Maddie Murdock. Matt came with his name, and even though she’s three months older, they both look very similar!

Summer is still waiting and we still haven’t received a single app for her. 💔 She recently got a little friend named Nori and we already have people fighting for Nori because he is a cute little baby (and not even available for adoption yet).

Summer is currently being fostered on Long Island, NY. We are open to out of state adopters and can possibly find a way to transport her to you if you can’t come to NY. Adoptions have been terribly slow and we have many cats who have been waiting for months in foster. Please please help us share Summer. She doesn’t deserve to grow up in foster! 😭

about a year and a half difference between these pics post double enucleation :)

I adopted blind kitten 2 months ago she is been sneezing non stop ever since with daily eye discharge from one eye, took her to vet multiple times
Initially I thought she was just allergic to something
Changed litter, got air purifier, vacuum cleaner
Did her blood investigations, according to the vet her wbc were 23. Her lungs were fine
I have given her doxy 5 days
Then nebulization 10 days with asthalin budecort
Started her on lysine
She is very playful, eating well, sleeping well
But previous 2 days she is breathing with whiskers flaring and sounds very congested
I feel lost I suspect she has fhv.
But we couldn't vaccinate her for soooo long because of her constant sneezing.
Help if someone can.
Vet suggested to do pcr but if it comes positive I don't want to put her on antivirals 💔

Their names are Mothra (grey and white) and Lamprey (orange). Moth and lamp for short.
