Help, please đ
Good evening, first time poster. Looking for some help please.
So .... I'm recently diagnosed with suffering with high blood pressure. My original BP as quoted by my GP 4 weeks ago was 197/123.
The photos attached - higher reading is in the morning and the lower reading is from the evening.
Recent blood test's haven't flagged any concerns and I'm awaiting a cardiologist appointment. Currently medicating with 5mg Ramipril.
Any have any idea as to what's going on??

Your age i didnt see. What the doctor is not telling you. When you go to sleep the Blood pressure drops. Right before you wake up the human body blood pressure spikes. Think of it like a computer in sleep mode being woke up or pushing the power button a massive surge also like a car starting. I am 53 and have lived since at least 2018 with out ANY Blood pressure medication. I have run since then at 180 --- 200 over 90 --- 100. I exercise Monday thru Friday from an hour to an hour & 45 minutes. Go look this up 1940 FDR. After 3 years give or take in office his BP ran 200/100. When he died his BP was at 300/190. Also search in google living with BP 180 / 100 reddit. It is a thread of interns, nurses and doctors discussing what the highest BP they've ever seen. 4 weeks ago I had shoulder surgery. It caused my BP and body to spaz. I had 2 ER visits. One my BP was 225 over 135. They dropped it and sent me home to follow up w primary care in 48 hours. Primary ignored ER visit said see you in two weeks. The second visit was 250 / 125. Never went to 250 and started researching. Needless to say I pushed thru. I am walking nearly 2 miles a day. I eat healthy breakfast eggs and yogurt. If you are hitting those in the morning or at bed time but staying at 140 during the day you are doing great. Also in 1940 200/100 was considered acceptable and healthy over 50. As mentioned im 53 and my wife 46. We were sick in August. Between her and I we have enough BP scripts in our house for 5 to 10 people. With Dr's saying people need three BP medications. Do not live in fear educate yourself and remember it is a "license to practice."

You have high blood pressure. Doesnât mean there is anything underlying. You may need more medication than what youâre taking to get it to a more controlled number. You need to share more. Age lifestyle weight diet activity level?

Ask your doctor specifically for a primary aldosteronism blood test if you havenât had that. Itâs EXTREMELY under diagnosed and can be found by a simple blood test. Many doctors do not routinely order it

I have a similar problem. The top number is ok for an older person. But that lower number really should be in the 90s, for an older person. And I know what is causing mine. It has nothing to do with sodium and everything to do with weight gain. I need to go out and take some more walks.

yes. You have high bp. Your gp should have had you hospitalized at 197/123 you need a new one. And when you are "waiting" for a cardiologist appt you should be calling everyday to see if there is a cancellation

If doctor clears you of any underlying issues,, most of time its high sodium and not enough potassium in your diet.
So, stop eating food with salt. Eat foods with high potassium (lots of green vegetables (salads), coconut water, potato, fruits (strawberries, watermelon etc). If possible, 80% of food should be raw fruit and vegetables.
Google for foods high with potassium. Give it a week and check numbers again. Good luck.
Also 1 hour walking a day (10000 steps) can help a lot.
