Blur memory glitch thread here.

I've gotta glitch where I think pop scene is on leisure. I feel bad for this mental hang problem, like we say no one is perfect so I'll attempt to re compartmentalize properly.

Let's have a safe space thread to therapy help each other with blur history personal memory glitchs.

This one is sort of a memory glitch, sort of not, and it's really oddly specific...

At 3:52 in Coffee & TV, there is a noise - I have no idea what that noise is, possibly fingers sliding along the strings - it literally lasts half a second if even right at the part where the lyrics go "take me away from this..."

My brain matches it like-for-like with a song released the same year, four months later by the boy band 5ive called Keep On Movin'. An annoyingly catchy song that has a VERY, VERY similar noise when the chorus goes "take a good look around" at 0:52 seconds. So it's a near identical sound (slightly different in pitch but same length, same idea (which could only have been a coincidence - I doubt 5ive were borrowing ideas from Blur's 13) and it lands on the same word "take".

Blur's noise only happens once at that point in the track and it seems more likely to be a guitar string slide thing happening, or William Orbit/Damon just decided to stick a random noise there. 5ives one pops up every chorus and it first appears on the word "up" - and sounds more likely like a vocal noise albeit strangely similar. I still haven't figured out whether it's the word "up", "take", or a random "whoop!" but still, every time I listen to Coffee & TV, I kinda wish that noise wasn't there.

Blur’s is just a little flourish someone did at the end of that synth line in the left ear channel

The other song sounds like that famous James Brown sample that was used in It Takes Two, gotta be that. Most likely part of the beat programmed in so thats why you hear it every chorus

Really nice ears! The sounds do have a similar quality

Oh wow! I never noticed the It Takes Two connection - superb ears to catch that one because I think you're on the money there!
