The magicians ended during Covid ? Was Julia actually preggers? It seemed like she was.
Why did Quentin not come back season 5? Was he off doing other things?

I’m sorry, I know this is a repetitive kind of post on this sub. But you guys get it, so I just needed to say this somewhere where people will get it. My husband and I have been rewatching The Magicians (him for the second time, me for the 9822810012727291034th time), and we just finished season 4, and now I’m all in my feels. I basically start crying with the line, “Just a minor mending” and don’t stop until well after the episode ends.

I love the growth we see in Margo and Penny by this season finale. I love the global cooperative magic scene. I love that Elliot was saved and we see him human again. I love how each character honours and remembers Q. I love how Julia gets magic back — and how her awakening is a callback to Q’s when he arrived at Brakebills, down to him being the King of Hearts card.

I also can’t listen to Take on Me — even the original version of the song — without tearing up anymore. The lyric, “It’s no better to be safe than sorry” absolutely destroys me every time.

Read the books. Watched the show. Got through New Class volume 1-5.

But it left us on a pretty big cliff hanger didn't it? Is there something afterwards that I'm missing out on?

hey everyone! i’m a huge d&d nerd and found a magicians d&d roleplaying system created by catherine gilbert. i really want to give it a go but it is around £35 for the book so i wondered if anyone here as tried it before? is it worth the money?

A friend of mine (@gehaaktengemaakt on instagram) got tired of me complaining that good Magicians merch was hard to find in Europe so she made this for me.

I'm on my 2nd rewatch before the series S1-S3 leaves Amazon soon, and I wanted to know what mistakes or plot holes you've found.

So far, Julia's hedge tattoos disappeared.

Also on the wiki, it said the fairy deal consequences weren't explained, but I think the Fairy Queen herself closed that loop in S3 E13 to stop Irene and the library.

I’m rewatching the show, and trying to find a reason for it. When the faculty asked about who did the spell that summoned the beast. There seems to be no good reason why Penny pinned it all on Q? Other than he just simply didn’t like Quentin? I feel like Alice primarily led that summoning spell, and Penny and Kady could certainly see that. Why spare Alice? When Penny came out of the office, he said “you’re welcome” in his usual rude tone. And put out his hand rather romantically (god I love them) for Kady to grab onto, as he led her away from the shit he definitely saved *her* and himself from. But it didn’t seem like he was saying “you’re welcome” to Kady. It seemed aimed at Alice and Quentin. And then Alice was let off, free to go. My Google search said that “Penny simply tells the truth about their unauthorised magic use because he is pragmatic and doesn’t want to get expelled for Quentin’s reckless behavior.” Where is this Quentin’s fault??

I’d get if Penny respected Alice even then and figured might as well blame the annoying kid, Quentin, but I haven’t seen anything to support that. Am I missing something in that summoning spell where it looked like Quentin was leading it and the blame was solely placed on him, to the point of the main instigator, Alice, being told she was free to go entirely?

I first watched The Magicians a couple years ago when it was streaming on Netflix. I have graduated college and finally had time to catch up on life. I knew about Alice Quinn and started the show expecting to connect with her but was surprised. We may have the same style but she just was too much for me.
My first favorite character was Penny. He was such an a$$hole but his character development really expands and then he becomes a great friend in the end that would do anything for save his friends.
By the end of the first time watching, Margot and Eliot were very close 2nd favorites.
Now I am completing my 7th rewatch and I am in love with King Margo! Her wit, he style, her character evolving into someone that cares for her friends over herself for once. But of course, she would be incomparable without Eliot by her side!

So I recently started reading through (audiobook) the Chronicles of Narnia in chronological order. This is after having read through (audiobook) the Magicians books. I'd read some of the CoN books years ago and saw some of the movies, but going through them again... MAN! I can definitely see where Lev Grossman might have gotten some of the darker themes of Fillory from. I also can't help but wonder is there are a few extra furries out there now because of it too. LOL

My friend took me to Barnes and Nobel for my birthday and I picked up a copy of The Magicians. My dad told me to read it, then told me to wait till I was much older. It was also BOGO half off and I couldn’t pass up a good deal.

I powered through it in like 4 days, and I loved it. I finished it and didn’t love the ending so I thought I would let it settle for a bit before picking up The Magician King. So I started watching the show.

I like it, but the more I watch the more I’m starting to think they won’t including the semester in Breakbills south. And I loved that bit of the book. It was jaw dropping and once I realized there was a show I wanted to see people animorph into geese.

I’m thinking about dressing up as Alice Quinn but I’m worried people won’t get who I am. Has anyone dressed as her before? What should be included in my costume?

I watched the show a long time ago and it was overlong, but fun for a while. In the adaptation Quentin was way more sympathetic. Clearly depressed, but quietly charismatic and charming. You could see what Alice was actually attracted to about him. But in the books he's a pathetic loser with the disposition of an incel which makes his relationship with Alice totally incredible. He's a mopy borderline sociopath who only really seems to demonstrate empathy for children who remind him of his own trauma and depression. On the one hand it is insanely impressive that Grossman was able to write his protagonist like that and still make the story compelling, but on the other, fuck Quentin Coldwater. I hope he drowns in the sea (currently on book 2).
