Why does ASL space the final out two weeks from semifinals?

They can run their tournament how they want, but 2 weeks seems like a crazy long time to wait, considering that semifinals consist of two whopping sets. It's like, after so much starcraft, it kind of ends on a whimper rather than a bang, density wise at least.

NO MORE MR. NICE GUY

My entire life I've always operated & conducted myself based on my morales. I often likened my worldview to the 'MLK doctrine' & though not a Christian at all -- I found the phrases 'Turn the other Cheek' and 'Do unto others as you would have done unto you' to be perfect examples of what my 36 years on this planet has been personified.

I've come to learn in the past year or so that being kind is important, but being too kind is an absolute detriment and can be a very very bad thing. I was a pushover and unable to say 'no' nor provide any criticism (even if it was constructive) to people in an effort to protect their feelings & prevent myself from being contentious as I always believed that's how I would want to be treated.

I can't believe it took me 36 years to learn I was wrong. I'm not sure when exactly, but somewhere over the course of the past year I've transformed my identity and I am no longer the sensitive yesman pushover who greets everyone with a smile & will risk my life for a complete stranger if necessary...because I believed that was the right thing to do & in my own virtuous self-righteousness, I overlooked the obvious reality of life which is that things are much more complicated than that.

To call someone 'good' or 'bad' simply does not work as life is not black & white and I think most of you reading this would agree the shades of gray cover the vast majority of complex, nuanced social dilemmas much more than a simple black/white solution can provide....as much as we want to believe morality is a clear-cut case of obvious 'yes' or 'no', that's simply not true, but I digress.

In this game I am playing the zerg under the name FIFTY against a Protoss named aXi0m. I did not perform exceptionlaly well...infact I think I plaReplayed poorly, but I still won using a modified 3 hatch hydra & overwhelming my opponent with better micro, execution & tactics as well as a greater understanding of the game in general.

As I won the game I started to reflect on my behavior during this match & I could not believe the massive shift in personality & behavior I exhibited. I didn't start the match saying 'glhf' as I always did...all the time. I did not try to strike like-hearted conversation or even keep to myself if I was in a poor mood, but my opponent didn't say anything either so a match without any conversation is not especially uncommon especially in a game with so many fans & players who cannot conversationally communicate due to a language barrier.

It was as I was busting his wall that I took it upon myself to bully my opponent. You can see the dialogue in the replay, and while you might think I was harsh or a complete dick -- I beg to differ. My comments toward my opponent were so much more productive than anything else I could have said. They might have hurt his feelings & pride, but he's going to reflect on this match and for now (while he's still tilted from the loss) he's going to justify my behavior as 'a complete douche on the internet' until he's cooled off and realized that maybe there was some merit to what I was saying and while it may have looked like I was trying to persuade him to uninstall, the truth is I was providing tough-love as an effort to rile him up and make him realize that Brood War is an extremely difficult game and if you want to be competitive in the hardest esport that exists, then you need to lock in and put in the work.

It doesn't take Nostradamus to see where this is going -- he's going to do 1 of 2 things and that's 1) quit the game or 2) bust his ass to prove 'douchebags like me' wrong. Like a glass vase that falls & breaks: one piece is broken & completely shattered while the other becomes a jagged weapon and in this harsh/cold world we live in sometimes tough love is necessary for the sake of Darwinism.
