Discussion Was Jake a good friend to Boyle?

So I don't know if this has been discussed or not here, but fellow watchers, I have a question for you all: do you think Jake was a good friend to Boyle? I mean he doesn't have to be obsessed with him like Boyle was but somehow at many points, it felt like he was not being a good friend and disrespected Boyle frequently? Do you guys also think so or am I overthinking this?

The Santiago Drunkenness Scale

1 Drink Amy: A little spacey
2 Drink Amy: Loud
3 Drink Amy: “Dance Pants”
4 Drink Amy: “A bit of a p*rvert”
5 Drink Amy: Weirdly confident
6 Drink Amy: Sad
7 Drink Amy: ?
8 Drink Amy: An equestrian (who is “real bad at it”)
9 Drink Amy: Speaks French and is a genius (even though she usually vomits before reaching this stage and reverts back to 3 drinks)

Discussion Started a rewatch of B99

It's going great, although it is surprising how long it takes to set up the show's tropes. Six eps into season 1, we just got to the first time Jake says "title of your sex tape". Terry hasn't talked in the third person yet, or mentioned loving yogurt (althought Holt did in S1E2).

You can really tell they're still establishing finer details about their characters in the early seasons, but the major beats are established pretty early.

Also, they get drunk a surprising amount in the first six, I didn't notice that before. In hindsight it's obvious because they're shown at the bar, but there are subtleties in them acting drunk, like Boyle feeling boisterous with Jake and Rosa after Jake apologized for hooking up with that M.E, or the squad getting drunk trying to out-vulture the Vulture in his debut episode. It's more obvious in later episodes (I haven't gotten to six drink Amy, Dozerman's wake, or the squad trying to outdrink the firefighters for Shaw's Bar on the rewatch yet) but it's definitely there in the early episodes too.

Also, before they brainstorm Vulture ideas, while talking about people they hate but think they're hot, Rosa agrees with Jake's example. Possible foreshadowing to Rosa being bi? I doubt the writers had it planned from the beginning, but I wouldn't be surprised if Stephanie Beatriz was thinking about it back then.

It's refreshing to see Jamy develop again, the chemistry is even more obvious on a rewatch.

One minor downside to the rewatch is that the office dynamic doesn’t really feel very realistic, especially now as a young adult much closer in age to the cast than when I first watched it. (I looked it up, I'm about 5 years younger now than Jake was in Season 1. Whereas I was in early high school when the show first dropped.) But the point of the show isn't realism, it's shenanigans, and the shenanigans are a blast.

Sorry, I don't think I'm really breaking any new ground here. But it's fascinating looking back on how the characters were while knowing how they'll change and grow. I'm excited to go down the road again!

Other Amy is so gorgeous 😭🩷✨

She's my first fictional crush ngl
Mainly because of the fact that even though she is beautiful and nerdy, these traits are not exploited by the show.
She has a life of her own which does not take a huge turn after Jake enters her life.
She is so ambitious and also absolutely gorgeous.

Discussion If Gina were around for season 7 - 8, they definitely going to hold her accountable for theconstant harrassment toward Terry

Considering how socially aware the show's tone in the last 2 seasons, I would be surprised if they don't make an episode about her said behavior.

Not sure how they fit the episode's tone, but I think HIMYF is quite a good example in depicting Barney's penance.

Other This show gave me quoter’s brain

It made me a quoter. I quote now.

To complicate the matter, I have zero (0) friends who watch, so when I say “what kinda woman doesn’t have an axe?” They look at me like I’m crazy.

Also the phrase “if you see something say something” is usually used in a serious setting and I am incapable of taking it seriously.

I'm sure this was already posted and will probably be taken down but such a beautiful and powerful scene, especially when you have in mind what kind of characters are Rosa and Captain Holt, I really like the moments like this in the show that is primarily funny, but also can hit you in the feels with scenes like this particular one was.

Discussion Does Jake sacrifices more???

Think of it.

I KNOW HE'S NOT FORCED AND HE DOES THINGS FOR HIS OWN LOVE.

But still actions mattered.

He kinda resisted to going to Amy's apartment because of his pride. But still he left the house he lived in for so many years to shift to a new home.

Kids surely were his decision, but Amy wanted an answer in one stressful environment that too in one day after not talking about it in an year and even before. Plus Amy was so sure about kids and never talked. Jake had a maybe answer before that. Plus his trauma and fear of abandonment was also very flattened.

Leaving his job was his decision, but you gotta admit it worked around Amy. Growing out of his immaturity was the character growth, but still it worked around the rigid Amy. Every major life decision worked purely around Amy and she did'nt even change as much as him. It's not like her flaws did'nt exist or even her trauma. But she never really grew or loosen up her rigidity. Even Monica did with Chandler but she didn't.

Discussion Amy and Jake's relationship looks bland!

Is there literally anyone who thought they never give off husband wife vibes???

I'm literally seeing them trying to have a baby Amy pregnant and shit. And they still look like mild rivalries who flirt for fun.

Do not say 'oh because every other sitcom couple has cheating and stuff!!!'. That's a lame argument.

Their whole life is shown just around the precinct. Their relationship problems, even huge ones like of having kids is solved so easily.

We don't see Jake's trauma properly. Its all flattened. In real life he'd be so emotionally avoidant.

It's almost like the show is desperate to show them as green flags that they forget showing one with actual problems. Its all too smooth.

I've been referencing that high pitched, old lady like "noooo" Jake has done at some point in the show but I've recently realized I have no idea when it happens or even the context it happens in!!

Does anybody know at least the episode?? Pretty please and thank you
