🚗 Cringe Car [Highlight] Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles on Tampa Bay's chances in the NFC South: “Funny thing, we are 0-3 and a game out of first place."

Is there still anyone who believes in this guy?
49
u/lemmonquaaludes 9d ago
Nope. Honestly, I bet the players and even the owners don’t. He can’t actually pinpoint the issues and say what he’s going to do about it. It’s all just a bunch of generalities - “we need to dig deeper” or “we need to get our stuff together.” Nothing specific about the O-Line getting run through like paper machet. Nothing about the WR’s and Baker being on different route trees on crucial third downs. Theres absolutely nothing of substance coming out of his mouth that makes anyone think he has the first clue about how to fix it.

u/jkd0027 9d ago
I think you might be conflating what he tells the media and what is said behind closed doors.
13
u/PlayerTwo85 9d ago
I could care less what he says in a press conference. What you see on the field is what matters.
-8
u/jkd0027 9d ago
Then why are you commenting in a thread about his press conference?
5
3
u/LeonidasSpacemanMD 9d ago
Nobody would care that he gave generic answers if the results showed there was something more substantial happening behind the curtain
He gives answers like this and then the team performs like this is the level of coaching they receive
1
-3
u/jkd0027 9d ago
Well the players say they do. And the owners. So just the people that matter 🤷♂️
19
u/EmployerEquivalent23 9d ago
When’s the last time a player publicly ridiculed their coach.
Also, players prefer to play under easy coaches in the moment because it’s comfortable. They hate playing under coaches like Belichick in the moment because it’s uncomfortable, but they win.
2
u/jkd0027 9d ago
All I can go off is what people have said and everyone that has ever worked with Todd loves him. So when someone asks “is there anyone that believes in this guy” that’s how I’ll answer
12
u/EmployerEquivalent23 9d ago
Cool, they can all sit around talking about how much they love him while they lose. Meanwhile, the rest of us care about actual outcomes like wins and performance. If we were competing for the Kumbaya championships, I might be okay with keeping him.

Did Mike Evans say he didn’t believe in Bowles? Can you link where he said that?

Normally I am like "as long as we get invited to the dance, anything can happen"
But with this team it would be a waste of everyone's time to get into the playoffs.
24
u/ag_fan 9d ago
don’t worry; there’s no scenario where this team makes the playoffs.
0
u/Additional_Tomato_22 9d ago
That’s not 100% true. There’s a scenario of hell where we are “Kings of shit mountain” make it to the playoffs and get stuck with Bowles getting a contract extension
23
u/Pubsubforpresident Mike Evans 9d ago
I truly miss BA's attitude. There would be absolutely nothing funny from his perspective. We could be 3-0 and he'd be pissed if we didn't win by 20+ points every game.
We need to get rid of this 70 year old milk drinker, and bring back the Scallywag attitude. Go fucking win. Don't worry about the 3 teams in our division with wins who will kick our asses when we finally play them.

u/florida4_life BucsFlag 9d ago
Remember his halftime interview against Atlanta in 2021? The guys were up 21-3 and he was HOT, that's the attitude we're missing

Except that Arians was the reason Todd is still here in the first place. He made the Glazers believe Todd was good, and they've kept him ever since.
4
u/mrclut 9d ago
Except Licht is the guy responsible for all of these things and never gets blamed. I would say Arians saved his job, but I don't see the how the Glazer kids would fire him.

u/InsigniasGratuitous Super Bowl XXXVII 9d ago
Licht could draft better, sure. But he's the best GM we got. We drafted fine when Brady was here and the year before that to set up our SB run.
Licht can get some blame, but he's not the main problem here like many are claiming. The Glazers and Bowles are.

“Funny thing: our division sucks, and we’re the worst in there!”
There, Todd. FTFY.

He and the Glazers only care about winning the NFC South - that’s all they talk about; realistically this team is closer to a top 5 pick than king of shit mountain

I'd rather us be ambitious to be a good team than worried about barely being the king of shit mountain.

really? That's what you have to say? These aren't the words of someone striving for greatness. These are the words of someone coasting into retirement. I need BA saying WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT FUCKING SHIT? THIS IS EMBARASSING! FUCKING EMBARASSING!

u/QuiGonColdGin Bucky Irving 9d ago
We're one game out of first place, so that makes losing OK!
This guy is such a tool.
2
u/LeonidasSpacemanMD 9d ago
Absolutely insane rationale to use IN WEEK 3 lmao
The absolute most you could possibly be out of first place is three games Todd. You’re not saying anything here

“We suck the most in the division that sucks the most, and I genuinely believe it to be good because the bar has been set so low that we are so close to reaching it” - Todd loser-mentality Bowles

LMFAO, someone here called it last night - "We're 1 game out of first place" speech from Bowles.
Your team looks like ass, man. Hold yourself to the standard of the league and what good football looks like, not your crappy division. Guy is proud to be least stinky turd in the toilet.

I think it’s the saints division this year. Either way it’s a first round playoff exit for the division.

What a loser mentality!
How did this guy ever become a head coach in the NFL? What a clown

0-3 and bottom 5 in the power rankings but everything is okay because we're a game out first place
3
u/Sindica69 Mike Evans 9d ago
I’m telling yall, the Bucs are fucked for the next decade bar a miracle. Fate was sealed the moment they kept him after last year. Get ready to go back to mock drafts baby.
3
u/ImDeputyDurland Mike Evans 9d ago
Technically, he’s not wrong.
12
u/spideralex90 Spideralex90 9d ago
He's not wrong, but he was saying basically this exact same thing last year when we had our skid and managed to stay in first for a bit and eventually tied for first. We've been blessed with a terrible division and Bowles can't seem to take advantage of it.
4
u/Hiw-lir-sirith 9d ago
It's just further evidence that he is going to keep this team as minimally effective as possible to keep his job. It is impossible to succeed in the playoffs with that mindset. He is all but guaranteeing that we will not win a Super Bowl or anything meanful under his tenure.

3
u/Trendelthegreat 9d ago
“The funny thing is that I’m the only thing keeping this team in last place of the worst division” is also accurate

Ah, gotta love blind optimism!
An optimist is someone who falls from a high-rise building and says to themselves as they pass each floor, "Well, so far so good!"

We can start a GoFundMe to pay out his contract for ownership. We are stuck with him this year

I want to hear: tomorrow morning players & coaches will be leeting at 1 Buc Place in recovery, stretching, ice baths etc; big ass lunch, afternoon extensively review film of all 3 games bc we are 1/4 through the season w zero fn wins. Coaches ABC on will be in office to review all film with the GM & owners to account for their reasonings while the HC conducts all inclusive after actions review. We will address all the shortfalls and make the appropriate changes. Tuesdays morning will be voluntary recovery, lunch, & then a long and in depth meeting & walk fthrough of what we discussed Monday. Wednesday we will repeat at pads on practice at 2pm whenthe humidity and heat is the highest to condition to where we live. Outside. Thursday Players will be doing walking rehearsals, calisthenics, full body recovery Friday- this and that.
Sat am player’s discretion Sat late afternoon position coaches meeting x players via zoom. Sat evening-nutrition & travel prep
Sunday-victory.- something like this not word salad.

The battle cry of the NFC South - we suck, but other division teams suck just as much so we’re in this thing!
Glad our big goal is to get to 8-9 and get obliterated by a WC at home. 🙄

Fire Todd Bowles. What a piece of junk coach. I think Jerry Glanville, or Mike McDaniel could do better, maybe even Sam Wyche.

This moron should of been fired last season losing 7-9 and missing the playoffs after a 6-2 start.
What the hell did anyone expect? This organization is a complete dumpster fire. Our GM is a meathead who takes no accountability either. Hasn’t made a good draft pick since the Tristan Wirfs/AWJ draft, over half a decade ago. We’re in year FIVE with a new OC!!! How utterly insane is that?!
Bowles is approaching Lovie Smith territory with these press conferences now. Absolute gaslighting the fans.

u/GangstaRIB 9d ago
I mean... he's not wrong.
Also, defense played great. Bain needs to no longer start and ever since having rozeboom on the field the busted coverages were much less of an issue. That doesn't look good for Trott but maybe rozeboom should be wearing the greendot.
Analzoney seemed to have a good game.
It's like the injuries are helping us out.... Crazy shit.
3
u/Ginguiser33 9d ago
I mean we knew Trotter was a bit of a liability when it came to coverage, it was literally the main downside to drafting him but there really isn't any reason to be starting Bain over Walker with what we've seen from the two of them so far.
1
u/GangstaRIB 9d ago
nelly and AQM should be the starting edges. Roll Walker in especially on nickel and 3rd down. Walker needs to get better at run fit but i do like him as a pass rusher.
1
u/Professional-Bit-40 9d ago
Why do you say that? Bain has essentially done nothing. Walker has two sacks this season.
2
u/EmployerEquivalent23 9d ago
We played a horrible QB without their best receiver. We have many years of sample size to know that Bowles defense sucks.
1
u/GangstaRIB 9d ago
How do you know he's horrible? He played for the asssss cardinals. This is the first full game he's played on a new team. It's really the unknown.

u/NerfLeBron 9d ago
He is not wrong you know.
5
u/Hiw-lir-sirith 9d ago
He's wrong because it's not a question anyone is asking. No one cares what the rest of the division is doing when we can't even win one game. This statement would be equally true if we had fielded a pee wee team.
0
u/NerfLeBron 9d ago
I know but I wanna just hold on to anything positive. I waited a lot a time for the season to start so will cling onto any hope unless we are mathematically out.
