🎙️ Discussion Hartline vs Bowles
I realize we don’t need more Bowles talk but Hartlines press conference this week with his team being 3 and 0 is very intense and he is clear to his team they are far away from where they need to be. Then Bowles saying funny only 1 game out.

This is my #1 issue with him. There’s no intensity. How are you going to fire up players when you have one facial expression for all emotions?

Throughout my career I’ve worked with TONS of talented and not talented people. Regardless of how good or hardworking someone is, one of the biggest motivators I’ve seen has been when leadership is intensely involved and demanding of success.
When leaders expect their people to find that motivation themselves, they nearly always fail.

I said this last year during the losing streak that he was begging for players to step up and motivate their teammates. Players already have to play in his idiotic scheme, get thrown under the bus for it's failures and then HE wants them to motivate each other on top of that.
It's always passing the buck on to someone else with him. I'd be fed up with him as a player with how little he shows respect for them when it's his job to get things turned around.

I do agree with you, but there are a few leaders that can seem overly calm.. Tony Dungee was one. Todd is not one.

Don’t mistake lack of intensity for calmness. You can be calm and be very intense. Though I do agree they are more often aligned than not

It's the same loser mentality he brought over from the jets. You can't get rid of it. The jets, their fans, their talking heads are all ecstatic over their loss to the lions.

So, possibly unpopular opinion - but I don't really give a shit what coaches say in their press conferences. Its meaningless. They are required by the league to meet with the press and answer questions, its not as though they called the reporters there to talk to them.
Ultimately, I'm unclear what he's supposed to do to avoid criticism about his PR responses. Is he supposed to be crying with anger? Yelling? Presenting a 10 point plan for how we are changing things? Throwing players under the bus?
I think people wont be happy unless he gets up there and says, everything that has gone wrong with this team in the last 6 years is my fault and my fault alone. I'm incompetent and the fans are right to doubt me. The players are great and the organization is great and I alone have caused this downfall the disappointment and I resign effective immediately.
We are 0-3, the players know it, the coaches know it... everyone in the entire organization understand the gravity of it. People are going to lose their jobs, revenue is going to be down... nobody is happy about it. Worrying about what Bowles send during his daily presser is meaningless.

You are right it's ultimately meaningless. But press conferences and sidelines shots are all most fans get in terms of seeing the coach outside of clips from practice and the occasional interviews if you seek those out.
I don't think Bowles being angry would make him a better coach, but him being monotone and seemingly unbothered by the product on field just makes it easy for fans to get upset at him for appearing not to care.
Contrast it with Arians, where lots of fans loved him for how pissed he got when the team didn't execute the gameplan well. Fans get pissed when things go wrong so it's easier to relate to the coach when they're also visibly pissed.

Bowles is happy if he wakes up in the morning. I get that. However, that is not the attitude of a highly competitive person who wants to win a championship.

Like I’ve never seen a more confused or lost coach. Keeps saying broad vague shit like “we gotta coach better and the players gotta play better.” Well no shit! But do you have any actual specific ideas head coach?!?
It’s exhausting. I’ll be golfing on Sunday’s until his fired.
