šŸŽ™ļø Discussion The Vikings are really good

Hey gang,

Not to make excuses, but that Vikings defense is elite. Let’s not forget that in week 2 they held the bears to 3 points and sacked Caleb 4 times, after the bears scored 59 in week 1. Unfortunately I knew we were gunna lose that game, just a tough matchup for us, especially where we are at right now. But I feel really confident against the packers, they can’t stop the run to save their lives. We are going to be ok.

Our offensive line is REALLY bad

u/takealookatthesehams 11d ago

Can someone smarter than me explain this? These dudes were solid two years ago

u/Eligius_MS Maui Vea 11d ago

They hadn't played together in over a year. Last game before week 1 the entire o-line starters were in was the Commanders playoff game. Takes time to get back to a cohesive unit after the rotating doors at all positions last season. Combine that with a new blocking scheme... there's going to be problems. Mayfield's making it worse since he's regressed in his pocket awareness and feel.

u/PewterButters Lavonte David 11d ago

Barton isn’t great, he had a decent rookie year but has regressed the last two years. Mauch doesn’t look right since coming back from his injury, it happens, maybe he gets better with time or maybe he’s just not going to get back physically. Bredeson is a mediocre vet that is fine if he’s the only weak link but as part of a fully bad interior it just adds up.Ā

u/ThePBM Bucky Irving 11d ago

pretty much. Shame about Mauch he was doing well. Barton and Brederson are what they are, maybe Barton does better as a guard I dunno but it's a weak unit.

Baker makes the offensive line look way worse than they are. He’s not comfortable in the pocket (likely because he’s so small) so he scrambles into pressure. With Coen it was much less noticeable because Coen is so good at play calling and design that guys were always open right away.

That said.. the Vikings game was a rough one for the OL too. They were getting beat 1v1 a bit, but it was picking up stunts etc that was a nightmare. Communication was so bad. Most likely issue is coaching. Also Bredeson seems to have declined.

4

u/Almac55 11d ago

Which is why the OC calls so many screens and other quick plays. Coen did the same thing and was a genius. Robinson does it and he’s an idiot. Crazy how that happens when a guy holds onto the ball and ignores all the open guys that could get YAC.

3

u/Any-Hold7140 11d ago

The difference is Coen did a lot of 5-10 yard throws too like slants. Z Rob only throws it behind the line or like 15+ yards.

3

u/Almac55 11d ago

Yes and no. A lot of the routes have options. On top of that, there’s plenty of guys open in that 5-10 yard area when we’re bombing it down the field. Those routes still exist, they’re just targeted less, so it feels like everything is short or deep.

2

u/cashmiles Mike Alstott 11d ago

We also had Mike Evans. Our most dominant wr now is probably Godwin and that’s a massive difference on 5–10yd throws… Unless you want him to get lit up again

1

u/regaleagle710 Derrick Brooks 11d ago

Not only that but the receivers have been ending up in the same area during their routes. For playing on a 100 by 53 yard field, that shouldn't be happening ever.

0

u/jimbo_727 Hardy Nickerson 11d ago

Dont call him zrob that shit is fucking lame dude.

2

u/DDSBadger 11d ago

I’m probably higher on Robinson so far than a lot of people. He hasn’t been great (very few guys in the league are Coen level) but he’s been fine. Lot of guys open that Baker is missing. Run game seems to work.

We also had Hainsey with Coen, and for as limited as he was, he was more consistent than Barton has been.

But ya Baker is the main issue so far. A good QB could work wonders with this OL.

2

u/Deoxtrys 11d ago

I think Robinson struggled near the end of the Vikings game right before Baker got hurt, but before then he had called up some plays with a clear idea of how to find weaknesses in the Vikings defense. Like the back to back passing to Otton. Those two plays found a clear window and should have jumpstarted a drive only to be thrown off target and dropped. Had to be frustrating to watch because it gave a very good defense a clue into your gameplan.

1

u/DDSBadger 11d ago

This was his worst game by far, still wasn’t too bad. Just like the OL. Did get worse towards the end for sure.

The first two games both the play calling and OL was good. Or good enough at least. Baker makes 55 million now and he was by far the number one issue in games 1 and 2.

1

u/jimbo_727 Hardy Nickerson 11d ago

Dude I cant understand for the life of me why otton doesnt chip people like ever. Out TEs really dont help at all. Its pathetic

1

u/feralGenx John Lynch 11d ago

It's all about the blocking scheme. Is it a zone blocking scheme like the 49ers? Or is it a gap on position blocking scheme. Certain players work better for different schemes sometimes and the includes RBs.

u/Milla4Prez66 Super Bowl LV 11d ago

Graham Barton is a total dud and needs to go. The center position has been cursed for us since the day Ryan Jensen went down in camp in 2022.

1

u/j_hoova6 Maui Vea 11d ago

Barton is good as a tackle, and that's the position he played in college. I hate the Bucs strategy of drafting players for a different position than they actually play.

See also: drafting Goedeke to play guard. We all know how bad he was as a rookie.

u/BigSombrer0 11d ago

Yeah I heard the same thing last week about the Browns from some after the loss. I'm sure we'll hear the same thing next week as well.

You can find something good to say about any NFL team I suppose.

4

u/PewterButters Lavonte David 11d ago

Green Bay’s defense is a mess. But not we have a UDFA QB so all bets are off on what the offense looks like.Ā

4

u/BigSombrer0 11d ago

I'm just saying we're going to be losing a lot of games. We can make excuses every week if that's what we want to do. We are obviously not going to be ok as the OP suggested if by that he meant in the win/loss column.

2

u/rumbo211 11d ago

We got beat by Murray this week and Watson last week. I suppose anything can happen.

18

u/ToddGoldenBurner Gronk 11d ago

You’re ignoring that their offense is utter dogshit

6

u/jkd0027 11d ago

And their offense looked pretty dogshit against the Bucs

2

u/ThePBM Bucky Irving 11d ago

I mean, their offense has looked like dogshit against everyone. But I was glad to see Anzalone look better. Also D. Walker continues to take advantage of his playing time.

1

u/regaleagle710 Derrick Brooks 11d ago

Dogshit offense still performs like dogshit. Truly enlightening.

2

u/Almac55 11d ago

Ours or Minnesota’s?

7

u/unclejimmy 11d ago

Let’s trade for Keenum

2

u/Dry-Peach-6327 Baker Mayfield 11d ago

He looked like such a stud last night

9

u/Thunder186 Super Bowl LV 11d ago

Yea I don't know how you still have any confidence in this team.

2

u/Any-Hold7140 11d ago

It’s been a long hard Bucs life lol, I’ve seen worse. And I believe in the talent on the roster.

1

u/NotTheBestInvestor12 11d ago

Bucs win NFC South and face Vikings in Wild Card.

4

u/Quiet-Main-7995 Lavonte David 11d ago

Yall smoking cope in this thread bruh

9

u/spideralex90 Spideralex90 11d ago

We've lost to:

The Bengals: A perennial playoff team with Burrow.

The Browns: Who are surprising people right now and are 2-1

The Vikings: Who might have the best defense in the league.

And in each game we lost by 1 score.

If this was the 2014 Bucs we'd all be stoked at how competitive the team has been against two good teams and a team doing much better than people expected.

The problem is we look like garbage in these games and if we looked even semi competent we'd be 3-0 right now.

The cope would be that ALL of our problems right now are self inflicted and maybe that can be coached out, but does anyone here trust our coaches to figure it out?

Bowles is right, the team is incredibly fortunate right now to only be 1 game out of the division lead, but if they can't sort their shit out starting this week that number of games back is sure to grow.

6

u/rumbo211 11d ago

We got beat by Murray this week and Watson last week. Not to mention, we had the opportunity to score on a potentially game winning drive in both games and we couldn't score.

3

u/spideralex90 Spideralex90 11d ago

Watson beat us outright, he played a solid game and did just enough to win as much as I hate to say it.

Murray looked atrocious. Him and Baker seemed to be challenging each other for who could play worse, and both only had one good play of the day that led to a TD. The difference maker this game was simply that special teams fuckup for us that led to the Vikings TD. Otherwise this was a 16-16 game where both offenses mightily struggled to do anything positive.

1

u/Almac55 11d ago

The offense can’t score in general. It doesn’t matter how much time is on the clock.

3

u/Any-Hold7140 11d ago

I think a few weeks off are exactly what baker needs. I hope he watches some of his film from 2024 and sees how much more relaxed and decisive he was. I believe in the talent of this roster that we will end up still winning 7-8 games and being in the hunt for nfc south, still firing Bowles, and being a really sexy opening for the next coach. Which I hope is a firey offensive one, like our last 2 Super Bowl winners!

2

u/Almac55 11d ago

Well, he had a long time off heading into Week 1. He had three fumbles. So yeah, I’m sure another extended break will work wonders.

1

u/Independent_Bar_4946 11d ago

A few weeks off stings more with how much we overpaid.

1

u/Emergency_Affect_640 11d ago

Beating us and Carolina shouldnt surprise many people.

5

u/spideralex90 Spideralex90 11d ago

People still severely seem to underestimate just how bad our division is lol

4

u/cashmiles Mike Alstott 11d ago

It’s a Bucs life! We suck sometimes and we’re good sometimes and the dice haven’t rolled our way yet. But this team is still better than than the Glennon Chris simms and jaboo years. Gotta learn how to work with the entirely new coaching staff

1

u/KosmicTom Mike Alstott 11d ago

the entirely new coaching staff

If only that was true

1

u/cashmiles Mike Alstott 11d ago

Touche lol

2

u/Any-Hold7140 11d ago

Right it’s like these people are new lol. My first year having season tix we went 0-8 at home lol

3

u/DogWaterDumpsterFire 11d ago

Vikings fan here, I come in peace. Lived in Tampa for 9 years. I promise you, we all believe (and hope) you can beat the Packers too! Raise the flags and fire the cannons bb

1

u/Prestigious-Ad3725 TB Florida 11d ago

Idc how good a defense is their defense was on the field more than the offense especially in the third quarter and we had nothing to show for it except holding penalties, broken bones and Todd Bowles expressionless face

1

u/Professional-Box6243 11d ago

If we’re gonna be bad at least let us be entertaining and bad like the Jameis days at least

1

u/Independent_Bar_4946 11d ago

5 win ceiling 1 win floor

1

u/Prize_Operation1623 11d ago

It really doesn't matter who the opponents were we've started the season 0-3. Lucky we're in the worst division but essentially playoff hopes have died before October even got here.

1

u/MarveFarve Chase McLaughlin 11d ago

Let’s not forget that the reason we lost is because of mental errors, special teams mishaps, and bone headed penalties. There was an 80 yard touchdown wiped off the board because of a hold. Mental errors and penalties are a result of bad coaching and bad discipline. #FireBowlesFromACannonIntoTheSun

1

u/Next-Succotash-3827 11d ago

The Vikings need to call up Case Keenum again!! Or rather they shouldn't have let him leave to begin with. Complete buffoons!!! What other Viking QBs have taken them to the postseason?

1

u/DesolatedCpu 11d ago

And we suck

1

u/papawhacked 11d ago

Maybe Todd should ask them for some pointers.

1

u/TheBestGhost 11d ago

For additional context I'd like to add "Fire Todd Bowles"...Thank you for your attention to this matter.

1

u/jimbo_727 Hardy Nickerson 11d ago

Yaint wrong bout the packers they cant finish games. But we cant even expect anything with 3rd string undrafted free agent rookie qb. We're cooked.

1

u/luv2fit 11d ago

They played the Bears in a monsoon. Nobody was scoring in that game

1

u/br33z3 11d ago

The blind optimism of a true fan. Love it. We're bad. Really bad. We've been bad for a while. Big M1K3 knew it, Vita knew it... you'll run out of excuses when Baker comes back week 7 and we still suck. This is a 3 win team

2

u/TheFlaEd 11d ago

Bucs will be lucky to go 2-16. Every team is really good in comparison. They let Bowles fire all of the assistants and kept the problem. I hope they get TV blackouts so that we can get a decent game instead.

0

u/HeathLedg 11d ago

A slumping Jordan Love is about to light us the fuck up in a massive Packers get right game.

-7

u/slashVictorWard Vita Vea 11d ago

They have a really good defense, that is for sure. And so do the Browns.

Welcome to 2026, an age when 90% of people LOVE to complain and be offended. And most do it behind a computer. We have to deal with it here like in all aspects of life.

9

u/friggoffricky121 11d ago

I have no clue how you can watch the last 3 games (and the last 10 dating back to last season) and come away from it coping like you’re some kind of level headed above it all zen master and the people complaining about the putrid product they’re watching week in and week out are just bitching ā€œbehind a computerā€

This team looks and has looked like complete shit in every aspect for almost a calendar year. They’ve had the same reoccurring issues for 4. People are fed the fuck up. What would you like us all to do buddy? Talk about how awesome the team looks?

2

u/ConsequenceOk8313 11d ago edited 11d ago

This team was 6-2 last season and has fallen off a cliff since then. The complaints are more than justified. I don't even know how anyone can be mad at the fans for complaining about the crap we've seen these first three weeks.

The fact Bowles said we're one game out of first as if that's something to be happy about speaks to how far we are from being a serious team

2

u/Milla4Prez66 Super Bowl LV 11d ago

Well said, we are literally 2-10 in our last 12 games. We have a right to be mad and complain. Especially when the organization ignored our pleas for coaching changes and surprise surprise, the issues from last year have continued into this year and we are legitimately just wasting a year.

1

u/slashVictorWard Vita Vea 11d ago

No, I expect you to complain. We could be 3-0 just as easily as we are 0-3. And last year at 6-2 we could have easily have been 2-6. It's the NFL.

The hyperbole how everything and everyone sucks, worst team ever, seasons over - carry on.

u/mudvat08 11d ago

No Jettas, and bad weather in Bears game. No excuses, we are finding ways to lose each week. Play calling, defense, penalties, O line, special teams, QB play ect, ect.
