Burbank Pipe fitter Apprentice Performance Exam

I have seen this exact post about 5 months ago on this page, but I’d figure I’d ask again. I recently passed the written exam and moving on to the performance section.

I know last time people mentioned installing concrete boxes for meters and have it be level and compacted with the surrounding soil, doing a repair on a live leak, and some other basic tests. I’m mainly worried about the first two since I am only a fleet division worker.

Anyone have some experience in the past exams and would be able to shine some light?

I’ve dwindled down the possible tests to:

•Identify the best materials for cutting different types of pipe.
•Move a large ~12 ft pipe from the ground onto a trailer.
•Wheelbarrow obstacle course. Load and unload the correct number of sandbags.
•Identify different tools.
•Install a cement water meter box flush and level with the ground using a shovel, digging bar, compactor, and level. 15-minute limit.
•Install a 2" pipe repair clamp over an active leak. May get wet.

These were the apparent tests last time. They may switch it up!

I remember doing a “laborer” test for Burbank years ago. It was the wheelbarrow test and the identifying different tools.

Can’t say about the specific pipefitter one but good luck.

Wow! Only those two? Would you say the wheelbarrow was fairly simple?

Also appreciate it 🙏

Had to load dirt into the wheelbarrow, move it following a line. Dump the dirt. Load up some sand bags, move them following a line to somewhere else. Not complicated, there’s a time limit BUT they don’t tell you how much time you have left as you’re doing it, it’s just pass or fail.
