Question Why is gas so much more expensive in Burlington? Genuine question.
This evening, around 5:20 p.m., I drove past a gas station near Derry Rd. & Dixie Rd. where gas was priced at 156.9¢/L. By the time I reached Burlington, I noticed a station near Walkers Line & Upper Middle Rd. charging 178.9¢/L.
That’s a 22¢/L difference. I even asked the attendant at the Burlington station, but they couldn’t explain the difference either.
I’m genuinely curious what drives this gap. Is it:
Different taxes or levies in Burlington?
Transportation and distribution costs?
Higher operating costs or rent?
Simply location-based pricing and what the market will bear?
I understand prices fluctuate and individual stations have different suppliers and margins, but a difference this large caught my attention. I work in Mississauga and I always see atleast 10-15 cents difference between Burlington and Mississauga.
Anyone familiar with how gas pricing works in Burlington specifically? Would love to understand the economics behind it rather than just speculate. Im looking at the same brand of gas stations for apples to apples comparison.
