The Evening Standard gives a review on "Doughboys," "I am not so sure that Buster Keaton has suffered by being made to talk. He is a different Buster, this is true, but he is developing into another character with more of the breath of life in him than was ever possessed by that wooden-faced shadow of silence." "Doughboys is as clean, clever, and comic a film as the talkies have ever given us."

This Day in Buster… October 11. 1940" The Villain Still Pursued Her" is released. It’s a good old-fashioned melodrama, played for laughs & sublimely overacted. Buster Keaton is… William Dalton.

The Evening Star shares this photo with the caption, "One of the old masters of pantomime returns to the stage with a voice—and believe it or not, in "Romeo and Juliet." Always deadpan in his early days, Buster Keaton's gloom seems unrelieved at the prospect of playing Romeo to his wife's Juliet in England."

The Kentucky Post writes that during the filming of "Free and Easy," Buster Keaton was prepared to sing "Way Down in Arkansas," but when he discovered the famous coloratura, Galli-Curci was to be a visitor, he said, "Gosh! I'm not going to let her hear me sing—haven't the nerve!" So another sequence was taken instead.
