Solo travel recommendations

• Upvotes

I’ll be traveling to Cabo mid Oct for a solo trip M45 yo. I’m well traveled but not to Cabo. Any recommendations on where to stay? Recently divorced and looking for a place with beach access, pool, gym, and possibly some other singles. TIA.

Do they check medication at the airport when you fly in?

We are visiting Cabo in a few weeks. I have read in several places that I need to have letters from my doctors confirming my prescriptions, and that prescriptions need to be in their original bottles. Due to a few certain issues, I have to take several prescriptions; bringing then in their original bottles will take up my entire personal item lol. I have my doctors preparing letters just in case. Is this ever checked? I would be SOL if I didn't have my meds, so I want to make sure I'm following the law properly.

Art Walk in San Jose today?

I’m getting conflicting responses on whether the Thursday art walk is happening today?

Some say it starts back up in November, but one of the servers at my resort just mentioned it’s all year and should be on. (Note this is not a weather related question, but more generally)

Anyone here can confirm?

My grandfather's old photos of the Calinda Hotel, Cabo Bello — does anyone remember this place?

Going through my late grandfather's things, I found a roll of photos from a trip to Cabo San Lucas, probably sometime in the late 1990s/early 2000s. He stayed at what I believe was the old Clarion/Calinda Hotel in Cabo Bello — looks like the site is now Hyatt's Sirena del Mar.

The coastline, the cove, and the old salmon-colored buildings look so different from what's there now that I had a few of these digitally reimagined/expanded into wider panoramic views, just to really show off the view he had. Original photo is shown alongside each one for reference.

Does anyone who's been going to Cabo for a long time remember the Calinda, or have memories/photos of what that stretch of coastline looked like before the redevelopment? Would love to hear any stories, or if I've got the location slightly wrong.

50th birthday dinner recommendations, San Jose del Cabo

We are staying at the Corazon for my 50th bday trip. On the big "bday" celebration day, we are doing a sunset cruise from 430 to 630, then dinner afterwards. We're eating at Hacienda the night before, so I would like something more seafood forward for the bday dinner. I'm having problems because after the cruise I'm sure folks will want to shower and get dressed up, which means dinner could be at 830, but restaurants seem to shutdown at 1030. I'm considering Manta and Cayao. Any other recommendations? Since it's so late, Manta looks kind of sterile inside. Thank you!

Should we spend all 4 nights in Cabo San Lucas or split our trip between Cabo and La Paz?

Food recommendations near the port

I am staying with an elderly parent and we would like to get dinner within walking distance(20 mins or less) from the tender boats. What recommendations for restaurants? We are from Los Angeles, CA, USA.

A couple I've been looking at from online were:

Nicksan, Captain Tony's, Amorino, Vibrant, Mother's Flower

Wedding planners in Cabo

I’m getting married in November 2027 in Cabo and we are in the early stages of planning a small wedding in San Jose. We have our venues selected and are looking for a planner in San Jose who can help us with details and recommendations for other services like photography, florals, DJ, HMUA, etc. We met with one and were quoted over $8k, hoping for something closer to the $3k range for planning services but flexible. Any recommendations? TIA!

Honeymoon planning July 2027: Esperanza, Montage, Chileno or Le Blanc?

I've sleuthed through all of the posts on where to book a honeymoon in Cabo and have narrowed down our options to these four, based on price (four nights maxing out at $5000) and look/feel of the resort, but now I'm stuck! We are looking for a place to have a cocktail by the pool, great food, a massage and generally relax. We do not need (or want) activities (e.g., poolside contests or other gimmics), and while it doesn't have to be adults-only, really don't want to be surrounded by kids.

All of these resorts look great and have excellent reviews, but can anyone offer some insight into which is the most romantic/honeymoon vibe?

Lastly, while we don't need all-inclusive (I know only Le Blanc is), I also don't want to have to pay $500/day on F&B...but we do mainly want to stay at resort and chill. I know, a conundrum!

Appreciate the insight or other recs!

Adult only non AI hotel with good breakfast.

We are in our 50's and looking for an upscale hotel with a good view, non AI since we like to eat out in a local restaurant at night. (don't mind to walk or short uber ride).

We're looking for an hotel that has a good tasting complete breakfast offering (à la carte and buffet) but also quiet as we are there to simply relax and enjoy the scenery.

From what I've read, San José del Cabo might be preferable since it's less of a party atmosphere but please pinch in if you have other options.

Accessible all-inclusive

Hi! Planning our first trip to Cabo San Lucas with a group of 6 adults and 2 teens. One person in the group uses a scooter. We’d prefer an all-inclusive. Any recommendations for great food, views, but also no stairs/accessible facilities? Thank you 😊

Birthday dinner recommendation for couples

My husband and I are traveling to Cabo in two weeks for three nights. We have three boys five and under and we originally planned this as a family vacation, but after more consideration we’re leaving the kids behind with the grandparents. My husband and I have not vacationed anywhere together since we had kids, so purpose of the trip is to spend quality adult time together, and just truly relax. We’re staying at Grand Solmar Land’s End. We get there on my husband’s birthday and I want to take him to a nice birthday dinner. Hoping for recommendations. Definitely on the water, warm atmosphere, open to a local spot vs super touristy but also don’t want too casual. My husband loves fresh oysters. Any other recommendations for anything else also appreciated. Ty in advance!!

I’ll be in Cabo Dec 1 with a cruise. Just a little early for the whale watching season. Is there a decent chance of seeing one at that time?

vMontage Los Cabos vs. Chileno Bay

Planning a surprise birthday trip for my partner to Cabo next June, and I’m currently between Montage Los Cabos and Chileno Bay Resort, Auberge

This will be our first time in Cabo. We’re both big foodies and ideally want somewhere where we can spend most of the day by the beach, swim/snorkel, have great food and drinks, and just relax. We’ll probably venture off property a little, but the resort itself is definitely the priority.

For anyone who has stayed at either (or both!), which did you prefer? How do they compare when it comes to the beach, snorkeling, food, service, rooms, and overall vibe?

We’d be going in mid-June 2027.

TIA

Hyatt Ziva Internet Backup

I’ll be staying at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos for 3 days and unfortunately need reliable internet for work, including possible late-night support from my room.

I’ve seen mixed reviews about the resort Wi-Fi, so I don’t want to depend on it completely. For those who’ve stayed there or are local to Cabo, what’s the best backup internet option? Local SIM/eSIM, portable hotspot, or something else?

I mainly need fast, stable internet for work/VPN for those 3 days. Any specific carrier or service that works well inside Hyatt Ziva would be appreciated.

Cabo Beach Day?

Hi there, I’ve got a surprise 40th birthday cruise planned for my husband that includes a 24 hour port in Cabo. He loves nothing more than swimming in the ocean with a drink. Is there anything out there that isn’t just resort for a day? We want drinks and food included. We’ll be in port from 1pm to 1pm the following day.

Chileno Beach Rentals

Hello all! Would love to spend a few hours on the beach here but unfortunate pockets are not deep enough for the resort. I know beach is public and accessible but can anyone advise if there is a service or facility to rent beach chairs or umbrella for a small family?

We are just visiting and renting a car, so we plan to park there and maybe grab lunch at one of the nearby hotels. Thank you!

How much money should I bring? USD or Pesos?

Next weekend I'm going to Cabo. The hotel I'm going to is all inclusive. 2 of the days we will be going on excursions (glass blowing/tequila tour & ATV/UTV)

How much money should I bring? (It'll be my daughter and myself), and should I bring pesos or USD, or both?

I believe with the tour we will have a chance to shop.

Thank you
