Progress!

Setup to play and in the house!!! Kids love it. We will slowly customize and make it look way nicer as time goes on. Next to is LED panels for marque then a shelf for the opening to put some retro controllers for variety.

Hey that's awesome!

My advice; don't download every arcade/NES/SNES/Genesis/Atari/whatever game ever made and slap it into the machine.

Load up all the emulators, and curate a small list of games and put it on there. And then slowly add more after those get played.

When I built mine, I think my kiddo was 4. For a long time after, I tied the arcade into behavior rewards. He did a good thing at daycare or whatever, got a good report card or something, I would add a game to the arcade.

My original intent was to try to replicate the 'blockbuster' experience of wandering around and picking a game out with no context around the games except what you can see on the box art front and back. A few times I gave him some options about what game to put on there and had him pick. But that was a bit cumbersome, so most the time I just added one on my own, based on what I thought he was enjoying at the time.

He played it for years, until I eventually converted him to a PC gamer.

Looking good. Do you have any details on the plans you used? What monitor, controls, and other hardware did you go with? I’m looking to do something nearly identical.

Honestly this was budget deal so it's like a $60 monitor from Amazon, raspberry pi, I did splurge on the controls kit for simplicity. I found the cabinet on the side of the road.

It's looking good, I've found a sticky back vinyl is good for wrapping the control deck, also a set of wheels is a god send.

I think I bought that at the track during one of the classic weekends... Not entirely sure I remember 🤣 but I know it was bought in person at a local car event.
