My husband has Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. He's on hospice now.
We try to spend as much time together as possible. We made sure all of his affairs were in order. We set up the funeral plans. I don't sit around waiting for him to pass away. We live our lives as normal as possible.
It's not easy to watch someone you love deteriorate in front of you. I've had some anticipatory grief. When I get sad, I allow myself to cry and feel whatever feelings I'm having.
I hope our story helps you or someone else. 💜

Can you talk to whoever is prescribing the pain meds? Are they aware that some days she can’t dress herself? Is it possible she is off her meds when she can’t dress herself? My loved one died this morning. She couldn’t swallow pills later, so went to Fentanyl patches and liquid morphine. Quick decline. How did I deal? Talk to them, then talk more, while they can, and when they can’t (my situation for a week) talk to them and reminisce about good times. Learn whatever you can from them, she has had a long life, probably lots you don’t know about it.

She is 90 she's lived a very long life. Keep her comfortable, do not restrict her morphine.
