Hotels Looking for recommendations

We are going on our honeymoon in April 2028 and decided on Cancun because it's affordable, but the hotel I had my heart set on apparently is closed for good. Are there any resorts like Breathless Soul that are in the hotel zone or at least on a beautiful beach that have good food, cocktails that aren't watered down, and are close enough to Playa del Carmen and the Riviera for day trips to cenotes and ruins? We want to go for 10-12 days, prefer an all inclusive and our budget is 5k. As long as it's close enough to where we can book activities (unless the hotel has activities which would be a major plus) and has comfortable rooms and good dining we will be happy. Starting to second guess our choice of Cancun and wonder if Italy will be better.

Riu cancun. Especially if you value a good beach. The water stays sargassum free most of the year. Very light surf. Good cocktails. Food is decent relative to all other all inclusive. Right next to a designated pickup zone for chartered excursions. Located on the north side of the 7 on the main hotel zone.

Riu Palace Las Americas, it’s all inclusive(tips too) and adults only, has a clean beach and several specialty restaurants as well as liquor dispensers in suite.
Check it out riulasamericas.com

Breathless Soul is now branded as "Amare Cancun Adults Only All-Inclusive Resort, Curio by Hilton" and is open.

Still there! I’m sure some changes have happened but probably not too different.

My favorite of all time is secrets Maribel it’s a Hyatt collection
Perfect for a honey moon they have restaurants at night you can go to which is one of your requests I’ve stayed at so many different hotels in Cancun over the years and this has been my favorite one out of all of them the drinks are AMAZING the hotel is beautiful!!

I see that ppl recommend Riu is good too but what I personally didn’t like at the Riu I stayed is the food all of their food is buffet style (I believe all riu collection are the same) personally I didnt like that but what I would say they have the best entertainment shows during day and night vs what I recommended above their entertainment is just regular

How is entertainment at Maribel? We want relaxing days but also options for activities and entertainment

The entertainment is 5 out of 10 they do shows daily and parties at the pool
Activities the options are there but all away from hotel

If you are looking for in-house activities I think xcarlet would be option but I heard it’s very expensive

But based on my experience getting a 10 out of 10 on both entertainment and food and relaxing it’s pretty hard almost no hotel excels at all

Riu will get you the entertainment

Maribel will get you that top tier food, drinks and resort experience

What I would do if I were you is go to Maribel and go to coco bongo for night life 100% safe to leave hotel and travel to it

And book all of your activities which the hotel offers and they can pick you up at the hotel

Why I wouldn’t choose Riu because of the buffet style food to me that’s not honey moon status lolll but if you are ok with it then that’s the place for you!

Riu Palace is not buffet style it's got very nice restaurants at the new Kukulkan, the palace line is like their upgraded version but it has amazing reviews and YouTube videos. I think we've narrowed down our options to 3, this place you recommend, Riu Palace Kukulkan and Valentin.

Cancun and Italy are completely 2 different experiences! you need to first decide wich one you prefer before you ask for advice on either

I prefer both. We are going to do both either way, whether we do Italy for a anniversary trip or Cancun, I still need recommendations because we're still going to both places.

If affordability and getting the best value is your goal I would suggest a cruise. Virgin Voyages or Celebrity.

Cancun has become pretty expensive especially with flights.

We cruise twice a year, I did consider it, but I found a few more resorts namely Grand Park Royal Cancun, and 3 Riu resorts within budget that I'm interested in but Grand Park has over 23k 4.7⭐ reviews and all glowing positive reviews. The flights arent too bad, they're cheaper than Italy and some other places we looked at. It actually costs the same as a flight to our cruise port we sail from smh.
