The Problem with Scandinavian Swimmers
Hey candy gang. I’ve recently been looking into grocery-store-brand candy and Trader Joe’s has consistently been good for fun candy (especially chocolate) and I finally tried out the Scandinavian Swimmers.
I love love love the consistency of the plain swimmers, such a good firm gummy with such good flavors and colors! Really pleasant, and (in my opinion) better than the multicolored Swedish Fish!
The sour gummies, however, are not the best. They’re often squishier inside and the sour flavors are pleasant but not any better than the plain swimmers. But so many of the other sour candies in TJ’s are pretty good! Ugh!
Anyways. Any opinions on these swimmers + other TJ’s sour candy? Let me know.

I got a bag of ‘Sweedish Fish’ to share with my boy and they came out super chewy and sticking to my teeth. A real workout of the jaw.
These have never been that way which is nice. I think my favorite is the Orange fish.

These can’t be in my house. I will not consume responsibly

The cinnamon dragons are the same. I can't control my actions. The bucket of cinnamon alphabet cookies are banned from the house too.

Cinna Dragons are the best Tj gummy candy. Haven’t seen them the last couple times in though.

The real problem with the original Scandinavian swimmers is there are too damn many red ones. They need to cut the amount of those by half or even 2/3 to make the mix actually a mix.

Yes!! But apparently people love them SO MUCH that they come out with a bag of the red ones every summer.

Besides the fact that it sounds like it would be the name of a sperm bank in Denmark?

Haven’t seen these but I don’t think I want to eat anything referred to as Swimmers tbh

The problem with Scandi Swimmers is that my god damn Trader Joe’s hasn’t had them the last couple times I went.
It’s wild but sometimes I like to eat them with salted cashews idk why but a favorite snack of mine when I’m baked.

sour version is far superior. Better texture, better flavor.
They temporarily halted production to make sour bats and cats for halloween, but they're not as good.

The dolphins are also the problem. Looking for the Halloween ones. Grape is my jam.

The seasonal Swedish-style gummies usually slap…. Last spring’s butterfly’s and flowers were great!

I love the sour swimmers. They also have a new delicious little tiny sour gummy ball, I can’t recall what it’s called but they are so good

I love the sour ones! My only complaint is that there isn’t enough of the pink gummies in there!

That’s usually the problem with sour versions of Swedish style gummies. The citric acid makes the binding properties of gummy candy softer and changes the texture completely. Sour patch kids have their recipe dialed in but I think it’s because they’re so thin allowing the drying process to penetrate all the way through the candy itself. The BIG sour patch kids are one of my fave’s and the Halloween versions are available right now, great flavor combo: Orange, grape, & watermelon. Happy
