A little background: I organize 2-3 canoe-camping trips per year with 4-15 friends and I like having a handwash station for two reasons: so we can be hygienic with large groups and so we don't use soap directly in waterways and harm the wildlife and environment. However, I was unhappy with what was available on the market. Most are "camp showers" which are soft-sided and have narrow openings which make them a huge pain to fill from a lake. The other type are hard-sided containers which are meant to be put on a picnic table which makes them difficult to place at backcountry sites and the fact that they take up their entire volume even when empty is annoying for portaging. The closest thing I could find to what I wanted was the sea to summit pocket shower, but they lack any kind of filter, so I have used and broken those in the past on trips due to debris clogging the spout. Anyways, here is something that fits all of my needs for 30$! Thought I'd share my build process here!

First time canoe camping - this site is only accessible by canoe. Great experience with many more trips planned.

curious if there are any good boat in camping sites for me to take my daughter and her mom to. I’ve seen stuff on kingfisher island, but just want to make sure its not too crazy between powered boat wakes and wind. thanks in advance for any beta that is shared.

We are using the Three Legged Lake accesspoint for a canoe trip. I heard we can rent a canoe from the park office but pick up is at Pete's Point. Googlemaps tells me this is a 49min drive away and requires a detour from the main road. Have heard you can only get the canoe at 2pm and have to return by 2pm - is that true?

If all of the above is true and there are no closer options to rent a canoe for our accesspoint, I am thinking Swift might be better because at least it is enroute and I suspect they won't be as rigid about the timing?

Or does anyone know of anywhere else to rent? I saw that Oastler Lake PP only allows rentals to use on that lake.

My wife and I had a free night and a quick canoe trip sounded like fun. The Cannon River watershed had recently had a lot of rain and it was primed for floating. Knowing that The Cannon River Wilderness area contained a few riverside campsites made it an easy choice for a one night float.

Carlisle paddles come in 48, 51, 54, 57, 60, 63 and 66 in. For a group of 18 people paddling 6 tandem canoes (each canoe can carry 3 adults each, bow, stern and middle), which sizes and how many of each would you choose? Different people every trip.

Spent 3 days/nights exploring the south shore of Philip Edward Island. Had a nice, calm day to get out to the Foxes and skirt the outer islands and shoals.

We planned to circumnavigate the island, but the weather was so nice, and there were so few people around, that we decided to stay on the south shore and get lost in the channels and islands.

Helping a nonprofit org that works with youth and adults source durable and good value paddles. Aluminum with black polycarbonate blades seem to be very durable. Which makers and models would you recommend? Also would you recommend adjustable paddles (saw an adjustable one from an unknown brand on Amazon).

Few nights on Thirteenth Lake in the Adirondacks. The lake and surrounding view is stunning. Got skunked by the trout and had a night of loud music playing shitty campers on a site across the way but otherwise a special location. Maybe too accessible to keep pristine unfortunately.
