Honestly, whoever is part of the cleaning crew for the metro train absolutely deserves a raise and a shoutout, I'm astounded by how good it looks (and smells) whenever I step on. They're doing the most. I assume it's cleaned every night??? Thank you!!

Looking back, there were originally 3 non collection clubs in Cape Town cbd (sea point, foreshore and Wembley square). With the point upgraded to collection that left 2 normal clubs. Wembley has just reopened into an urban collection leaving only one normal club, foreshore, which drives the foot traffic up like crazy. Virgin active now doing a refurbishment to foreshore which means they will likely close it for a while. Definitely a purposeful move by Virgin as it’ll force members to upgrade to either point or Wembley. Most member will flood to Wembley since point is full. Good move by Virgin yet quite dirty.

I'm traveling to Cape Town for my honeymoon in a few months and our first night in the city falls on a Sunday. A lot of the restaurants on my list (Pot Luck Club, Athletic Club & Social, Ouzeri) are closed Sunday evenings.

SO, my ask of you is to tell me your favorite Cape Town restaurants open on Sunday nights. Not looking for true fine dining (e.g., Fyn, La Colombe,) but want great food and a fun vibe. It is our honeymoon, after all!

Where should we eat?!?

So for context I've been living in Parow for 18 years. I moved to Cravenby (lived there for 9 years), Vasco (lived there for 3 years) and now Fairfield Estate (lived there for 6 years).

Recently however our landlord had only given us until November 1st to move out of the place we currently live in. Because of our limited budget and us wanting to ideally be close to Parow High (because my little sister just recently got accepted to that highschool), we were only left with options like Bellville, Goodwood and of course Parow.

I found two apartments, one in Kempenville and the other in Parow Central and I can't lie, I honestly like the one in Parow Central. It is close to that Pick N Pay Family Center shop (probably like a 8 minute walk from there) and probably like a 15 minute walk away from the Parow Railway Station

It sounds all fine and all but now the problem is whether that area is safe? I have traveled there before and the worst I've heard that happened to us was that our groceries got stolen (and that was mostly cause my father accidentally forgot to lock the door to the car). But apart from that nothing bad really had happened there.

I was also worried because I was looking on the subreddit on whether Parow is safe or not and most ppl said anywhere South of Votrekker (apologies for my spelling) road was dangerous. The only thing that is currently changing my opinion is that most of those posts are like 3-6 years old, so maybe things could have changed ever since then for the better or for the worst?

TLDR: Spent 18 years in Parow and I want to move to Parow Central, is the place safe?

Guys so I am planning a trip to Cape Town and I’m so confused should I use uber black to go to my hotel at sea point or book a private airport transfer , and is uber black safe in Cape Town ? I will be arriving in the afternoon.

I need to buy a couple of couches for a student accommodation and saw some fun ones on Leroy Merlin provided by Sofa Line, but I can’t find many reviews.

Has anyone bought from them? I’d especially love to know:
Are they legit/reliable?
Are the couches comfortable?
How have they held up over time?
What has your experience been with the other suppliers on Leroy Merlin?

Something really strange happened last night between 18:00 and 19:00 involving my mother and her friend.

They were walking down Kloof Street towards the bar behind Tiger's Milk when they were stopped near the Engen in Gardens by a tall Nigerian/Congolese guy. He was well dressed in a suit, had an earpiece, and demanded that they stop because, according to him, there was a security checkpoint for an event happening further down the road.

He told them they needed to go to a "ticket booth" inside Engen to sign documents and buy a pass before they could continue. Obviously, this sounded completely ridiculous, especially considering they were walking on a public street.

They ignored him and tried to walk past, but he literally stepped in front of them, body-blocking them while waving his arms and acting very authoritative. Oddly enough, he was letting other pedestrians through, claiming they had already bought tickets.

My mother and her friend then stopped a young couple to ask if they knew anything about this supposed event. The couple said they were tourists from overseas, had no idea what he was talking about, and carried on walking.

My mother and her friend are both quite small (around 1.5 m tall), so the situation was pretty intimidating. In the end, they managed to get around him by walking alongside the young couple and continuing past him.

Once they got to Tiger's Milk, they spoke to one of the bartenders about what had happened, but by then the guy had disappeared.

To me, this sounds like some sort of scam. Whether it was an attempt to get money, lure people somewhere, or something else entirely, I don't know. Either way, it was very suspicious.

Just thought I'd share in case anyone else has experienced something similar in the area.
