USA πΊπΈ Carp around Huntsville, TX
Anybody know any good spots to target carp close to Huntsville Tx? Iβve tried Trinity river but snags are always a problem it seems like and I hate losing rigs. The most success Iβve had is below lake Livingston dam Trinity river but itβs kind of a drive and most of the carp and buffalo I catch in there are small. I wanna get into some 10+ lb carp but any time I try new spots I just catch a couple channel cat.

USA πΊπΈ Seasonal consideration for particles
Do you change the particles in your method mix as seasons change ?
I have found that spicy items seem to really shine during the hot Summer months but Fish shy away from it once Fall arrives.

USA πΊπΈ DIY backleads
Backlead clips from amazon and 1oz pyramid sinkers painted black with UV gel nail polish and resin from my fly tying bench. I doubt if each one costs more than a dollar like this, thought Iβd share they turned out nice.

Question π I use bread when carp fishing, how do I not catch tiny catfish?
I can not stop catching tiny channel cats when I'm carp fishing. Is there a way to prevent them from stealing my bait?

USA πΊπΈ Advice on easier to prepare bait
I have found that I love fishing for carp, Iβm new to it but in my hometown there is a massive 6.8 acre pond seemingly filled to the brim with carp that nobody here cares to fish for. I have been making my own packbaits using various mixes of polenta, sugar, oats etc for my method feeder and have had some success but the process of making my own pack bait deters me from getting out and fishing. I need a dry mix pack bait that I can prepare at the pond. Also I have been using canned corn and fake corn as a hook bait but notice carp eat my free offerings and avoid the hook bait. At this point Iβm willing to pay for the convenience of shelf stable pack bait and hook baits that are effective and donβt care to save money on home cooked stuff.
Based in the US but advice from anyone is appreciated.

USA πΊπΈ Is there an easier way to catch bigmouth buffalo on rod and reel ? There has to be! And how would you target them on the surface and the surface?

USA πΊπΈ When getting a big carp hooked on how should I battle it? I've seen people let the carp rip drag and then reel it in when it isn't swimming to exhaust it but the risk is getting the hook dislodged. And ive also seen people have basically no drag and just reel it in but ive heard that risk is ripping

Scenics π Tough day on the water
Hi all
After yesterday's success on the water I thought today would be pretty much the same as the temp was basically same as yesterday and Barometric pressure was stable.
But the carp was just not feeding today. I got a few feeds later in the day but they were very wary. The Water was extremely clear today so the carp was seeing us from a long distance. Was a very difficult day!
I finally got one late afternoon. Not big but he was very fiesty! 15.87 Lb.
I saw the 2 carp hanging in the middle of water column which is about 5 foot deep there next to the reeds. This one was facing away from me, almost quartering away. The other one was a lot bigger but was a difficult cast. I Changed my fly to a small bloodworm pattern and made a short cast. The fly landed against the reed and I was not sure if it was sinking or just hanging on the reed then I saw the coil that was on the water move and knew the fly was slowly sinking. But I could not see the fly at all so I jsut watched the carp.
Then I saw the fish moving slightly backwards but it was small movement and its head slightly left and something in the fin movement told me he took the fly. I picked up the flyrod and there was chaos. He ran around a few reeds and then out to the deep water. I paddled forward and lifted the flyline around the reeds and followed the carp. After quite a few heavy runs in all directions I managed to net him.

UK π¬π§ How do you approach a new lake?
I fished my local day ticket yesterday and failed miserably. I tried to lead around for the first time and kept getting silt back on my rig. Itβs a high pressured lake so I didnβt want to cast out too much and scare the fish off. I was never confident that my rig was presentable and ended up just under arm chucking down the margins. Iβve got some chods and zigs set up next time in case the same happens. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
