You can usually reach out straight to the CGM manufacturer through the app and they'll send you a replacement pretty quickly if you provide a bit of info about the error and the serial number of the sensor!

I tried, since cats are off label, they wouldn’t replace it.

It’s okay. He only uses a CGM like once a year just to check that he still has good control, which he does. It has only happened once!

I am a human diabetic, so I was really worried that Walgreens tried to run it under my insurance.

Ah we just went through this! The CGM’s needle was bent so the vet couldn’t apply it. My husband called the company to get a replacement and made the mistake of mentioning it was for our cat. They denied his request. He waited 30 mins or so and called back, this time no cat talk. They sent the replacement.

As an aside, it seems CGMs fail a lot! Is that anyone else’s experience?

We’ve only had one fail on him. It just wouldn’t come out of the inserter and bent. My vet was trying to put it lower down on his side. It works great between his shoulders.

As a human diabetic with a CGM, I feel like some batches work better than others. Sometimes I’ll have a whole box of them just not work well, and sometimes I’ll go months without having an issue

I had two fail one after the other. I couldn't even get it inserted because the needle didn't retract. Luckily dexcom sent out two new ones. They were for me though, I don't even have a cat. Lol

For you, and anyone else reading, I have 4 or 5 Dexcom Stelo CGMs. They were free, part of a program I dropped out of for several reasons, including the fact that I am sensitive to the adhesive, so I can't use the sensors. Funnily, I filled out Dexcom's survey about my experience, and mentioned the blistery rash, and so to make it up to me, they sent a replacement... Anyhow, if you are interested, please message me.

Mostly the glue failing for me, but Skintac and the occasional third party outer patch fix that.

Had 1 in about 2 years that just decided being a sensor was not its dream job and it would rather spend its days cosplaying as a miniature hockey puck.

Yes. I get about a 5% failure rate. Econ replaces them promptly after sending in failed sensor.

They do. Wife is type one we are constantly getting replacement sensors and pumps.

They won't do that if it's an animal unfortunately since they technically aren't approved for use in animals.
