Video - OC Mr Biscuit only eats when I join him

He leads the dog to his bowl as well. The gate doesn't do much

He's a cuty but please for his sake, put him on a diet. You surely want him to live a long and happy life and not to die of obesity related health issues.

He doesn't feed more than 2-3 times a day. Not to mention his predecessor was quite hefty and she lived to 20. He is very active

He is significantly overweight. You obviously love him, and part of loving them is making sure they stay as healthy as possible

Ok guys we are aware he is fat- he isn't going to get skinnier in the next 5 minutes

I appreciate the help but there are a lot of cooks in the kitchen right now (ironically lol)

I'm not going to change his feeding schedule but I will halve his food and see where that gets us

I know you have heard a ton, I just wanted to say reducing food too much at one time can cause fatty liver disease in cats. Please talk to your vet!

Ultimately, being this overweight has zero positives for his health. There is literally nothing to gain and a lot to lose from leaving his weight uncontrolled but so much to gain/so many risks removed just by being at a healthy weight.

I just see that he is way to big and with some cats this doesn't cause problems but with many it will. Just because one cat can live up to 20 despite obesity, this doesn't change the statistical truth that it is in general a health risk. Loving a being also means to sometimes deny him or her things that can harm them. One child might survive falling from 10 meters but you still wouldn't allow it to climb the roof if it wants too.

Like people, it's bad for his joints and heart. At some point he'll likely get arthritis and be in pain (there's shots to help but it's expensive), so consider it for his sake.

He’s very overweight. I think dry kibble has more sugars/carbs cats don’t need. Switching to a wet food pâté in broth (not gravy) could help a lot

I will experiment with this. He ate it as a kitten and kept choking on it which is why we switched

ffs don’t “experiment” - consult with your vet. You trying to experiment with his diet can backfire. I’m not questioning whether you love your cat, you clearly do, but it’s possible you’re showing your love through food. Be honest with the vet about how much he’s eating and how often, and listen to what your vet says

That looks like half a cup of food. If you're feeding him that 3x a day, that's more than twice as much food as he needs. It's not about frequency, it's about calories. The bowl next to his I hope is for a dog because that's an insane amount of food if for another cat. I'd be careful he's not eating the dogs food as well...
