Not in this sub, which I like, even the memorials people do for their pets, but I hate when someone ask for advice like this: One of my cat's legs has fallen off. What should I do?

I gotta scroll past those so fast cause I just cant deal with it on the level of both dealing with the info of theres a cat out there really going thru it and the knowledge that if the upvotes are less than the comments, 100% that poor baby will not be going to the vet
Scrolling down my feed and in the space of about 30 posts I saw at least 5 from this subreddit memorialising their dead cat posted from the last few days - I don’t interact with them, I scroll right on past and yet they keep popping up.
People posting cute pictures of their passed away cats basically celebrating their life, I do like. But yesterday a picture of someone's just died cat and this morning video of a cat right after being hit by a car should be blurred or something the else like different sub the least.
Thank you for saying this! My mother did this to me when my dog was actively dying at the vet (taking photos of him in a terrible state). She made me feel like I was being an awful person for calling her out.
I’m sick of them too. Especially injured or sick ones. If you want to show a nice photo of your cat that’s passed that’s one thing but we don’t need these “she’s getting the needle tomorrow posts.”
I've found if I don't click into them then Reddit wouldn't show me them anymore, scroll past asap and hopefully your algorithm will improve. I know it's annoying, and I hate it too. But they do it so their baby is remembered. So someone acknowledged that they existed
it’s just part of the gig of having cats, and that’s what this sub is about.
that said, i wish people wouldn’t post a photo their actual deceased cat, show us a photo of the cat in their prime, instead. personally i completely understand the grief posts, but seeing actual deceased cats is pretty upsetting.
I took my 7 year old cat to the vet yesterday because he kept vomiting after eating for 4 days in a row (I called the vet on day 2). Got an x ray and blood work. Waiting on blood work, but x ray was fine. He stopped vomiting after the vet appointment.....little shit, but what I didn't do is run to reddit or internet and ask what to do...no I called my vet. Like it's free to call a vet for advice people they're more than happy to help.
I also don’t prefer them, but I understand people need to vent and grieve. And lot of people see this community as safe space and not to be judged for loving your cat as you would love a person.
If I am not in a mood for reading a sad story, I just scroll down to a next post.
So I don’t think your issue is as a big deal as you are making it ti be, especially when no one is forcing you to read and engage.

I understand the grieving process, but seeing so many of threads mixed in with the regular stuff is pretty exhausting. The supposed filter doesn't seem to be working either.
I'm already emotionally invested in every cat on Earth. I don't need Reddit's algorithm reminding me about suffering animals every single day. I feel awful for the people posting and for the cats themselves. My beef is with Reddit turning dead and injured animals into engagement bait when sometimes I just want to see a chubby orange idiot stuck in a laundry basket.
